I can just imagine that adding these high character kids + now having six guys, it will make it easier for next level guys to commit

Billy Donovan had an early conversation with him at Providence about transferring to Fairfield and when coach P investigated that for him, they didn’t even want him. So, coach challenges him to stay and work hard, leaving no doubt that you did everything you could to be your absolute best. We all know what happened. There are other instances like this too. So this certainty about the talent level not being good enough might be right, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Look at the roster of college teams he coached every year. Nowhere near the ranked players coach K got. Russ Smith was a 3 star player.

Nice post + does it pay to respond to certain posters?
I like the direction of our program and hope we can reflect back that as of the Spring 2023 we FINALLY got a Coach.

Good Grief man.
First off no matter what happens going forward no one will have to “reflect back” down the road to say we finally got a coach.
The minute Pitino signed here he instantly became the best coach we ever had.
Only a crazy person would dispute that.

See people are saying I am repetitive and yet no one seems to get my ONLY complaint.
The point is I didn’t understand why the roster had to be blown up and still don’t.
And as of this moment in time it is still not better than it was.

We got 2 Iona kids and not the best one we thought was a gimme. We got a kid from a bad VMI team and the 8th man on the National Championship team.

None of those guys are game changers, but if kept Posh and Storr and filled in with those guys that is a different story. And if someone posts Posh and Storr were asked back, from what people say who at least pretend to have inside knowledge, the invitation was lukewarm at best.

I am a fan and a Pitino fan, just didn’t and still don’t understand the strategy. Mostly I am not a sheep. Each new coach comes in and he can take a dump in your living room and most will say how great a dump it was.

Yes Pitino is better than everyone we have ever had but his current roster SO FAR is not.
Not stirring things up that is my only point and as annoying as I am for some, reading some of the idiotic stuff about how great things look annoys me just as much because I really don’t see it other than the coach and our best and only returning player.

You love referencing the new players' schools. It's your justification for them not being "as good". It's odd.

And he had a handful of spots left. Maybe you will understand strategy then. Maybe you won't and I won't. But let things evolve and finish first.

If Lavin, Mullin or Anderson came in blew up the roster and came in with 2 Iona a VMI and the 8th man on a great team what would this board be saying?

It is ok to question things. I would love us to start making tournaments again. Pitino has a shelf life and the team being assembled I just don’t see being very good. Just thought for WHATEVER the reason, blowing up the entire roster made Rick’s job harder.

And I am now starting to think it probably was dictated to him in some form because of the Anderson buyout.
