Rick’s Targets

Jack, Arbitrllo has not had many top tier players recently. He lied about Lavin not recruiting CTK players. He got upset because Lavin got DeLarosa without any help from him. Williams is the first big time player he has had in a while. St John’s encouraged Gardner to move to New York and attend CTK. A lot of recent CTK players have flamed out in college. Jose Alvarado and Tyson Walker took their games to a whole nother level once they got to college.

As I said before, I am not on Twitter so have no idea what was said.
Initially, I HIGHLY presumed he was lying about Lavin not recruiting CTK (as I knew better and something didn't seem right) and then I quickly found out he was indeed lying about it.

This is what I think about whenever I hear him talk....

Oh! no opinion? Well, here’s an observation, or several, countering your idea that coach P is bringing the mid major to St. John’s

College coaching record: 834-293. That’s about .740 winning % in 35 years.
Tournament record: 54-21. 7 times in the Final Four with 3 schools. A national championship with 2 different schools.
Providence was 11-20 when he took over and he had them in the Final Four in 2 years
Kentucky was on probation and couldn’t participate in their conference tournament when he took over. Record was 14-14 year 1. 22-6 year 2 while still on probation!! No less than 27 wins every year after. Both championship years, 35-5.
One losing season. Boston U graduated a bunch of seniors and the following year he still pulled off 13-14.

So spare us Pitino is bringing the mid major to St. John’s.
Pitino’s NCAA resume dwarfs our entire history in the tournament.

I said this before but will repeat it again. I saw Thomasson play against us on November 26th at Carnesecca arena (see box score link below) and came away very impressed. He was easily the best guard on the court that night, for either side. During our admittedly weak out of conference schedule games, that we played at Carnesecca this past season, he was by far the best opposing player that I saw. I think he is a Big East level player and like the fact that he and Jenkins have a pre-existing friendship. These experienced transfer players from lower level conferences have worked out well recently for many teams.

I was at this game as well and second every word of this, especially easily.

I am not opposed to this but he is recruiting the entire Iona team and a Niagara kid. My God some of you are overly sensitive.
Thought not keeping at least 2 or3 of kids who played was a mistake. Moving on now. Nobody was criticizing Lord Rick. I would love to get Ledlum who was also a Mid Major kid. Merely pointing out NO other coach would have confidence to do this here and not hear complaints Except Lord Rick our savior

I've been a St. John's fan for 40 years. Seen some ups but mostly downs. I just looked up Kentucky's roster for the 91-92 season. Everyone knows Jamal Mashburn. They had 2 other All Americans Travis Ford and Andre Riddick. In the famous game against Duke which everyone knows the out come Ford and Riddick scored zero points. My point is that team was Jamal Mashburn and a bunch of role players that was a lucky shot away from going to the Final Four. We now have an unbelievable Coach. Let him put together a team no matter where the players are coming from and see what he does.

My post of the stats wasn’t meant for you to provide the 410th same assertion. So sorry to the mods and the greater board for that! It was a drop the mic moment, that you of course completely missed. The track record speaks for itself. He’s the best there is. Got going late, hence the scrambling for players. Give it a rest

Don't bother. He must do nothing but cut and paste his posts over and over again. He really is tiresome.

What if our players from last year had bad attitudes and undermined coaches authority. Why would you want to bring that into a new team culture, new players, new coaches? That is the message we were told , take it at face value. Any coach would react same as Pitino would and not endanger a new culture. You’re not discarding superstars, just average D1 players. Drop the Royalty sarcasm re Pitino, it does not hold up well and is totally inaccurate!

Yeah, but he had 8 future NBA players on his national championship team at KY, 4 at Lousivlle. ;)

But yes, RP can coach 'em up above their perceived ceiling. Some just wish there were a few more guys beside Joel with higher perceived ceilings. I believe there will be when all is said and done.

Rick is very hands on. He's already in the gym working with Joel and Drissa. (Not sure if Keita is fully back on the court and to what extent after injury but he did tell me he will be 100% for the start of the season. Did see him in some photos in the gym.)

Rick is already working with our returnees and developing their game, has started with Joel's shooting. Every time there is a stoppage Rick is involved and coaching and giving pointers. He may be 70 but the man is still spry and active.
I get it SJU Dave
I’m an active 74 - don’t feel 74 - feel fine - don’t know how I’m “supposed” to feel - Rick P at 70 = no doubt with his drive can do another 10!
Why not!
Now a little patience so he can get our program rolling…
Such BS posters complaining after a few weeks
This will shake out & we’ll have a top program again = RP/MRepole/Pres would accept nothing less
Thanks SS&G

You got to know it, It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie!
family time comedy GIF by Bounce_TV

Lets be honest, if we get the Boogie Man and they dont play this song, particularly the "boogie woogie woogie" part multiple times a game, its really a missed opportunity

Think about it, Boogie drains a big 3 to put us up 1 with a minute to go and during the time out we are all doing the electric slide in the stands singing, "Its electric!!!! Boogie Woogie Woogie".
