Rick’s Targets

Glad those things are in the past. As for me, I’m looking forward to our next season. Anxious to see our final sched.
Pending Success…
Overall excellent backcourt and wing talent and our Center tandem PLUS the
Rick Pitino “ability to develop” factor = bodes well. As many have posted,
can’t wait to hear about practices and watch an exhibition or see a real game!
There will be more Ws than Ls.
Question: When has there been so much legitimate Redmen optimism?
Perhaps never or at least it’s been
“a long, long time ago” when we could hear the sweet oldies music of St. John’s success 😀 and not to boast, but it was long before the Father, Son and Holy Ghost took the A train subway for the Coast! The day our Bball thrived.
HC Rick Pitino = our Ace in the hole.

Who will be backup point guard?

Dingle 100%

Dingle has the best handle on the team. Jenkins has more experience facilitating, but his left hand looks weak. He doesn’t take many meaningful dribbles with his left and he predictably picks it up early when he drives left. He’s got the savvy tricks to hide his weak off hand.

Dingle is also very righty-dominant but looks more able to take an extra dribble or two and do something productive after.

My early guess is emergency PG goes to Taylor.

Nice scouting report. I suspect work will be done with Pitino and staff to work on all shortcomings. The shortcomings may not become strengths but will be something that teams won’t be able to exploit.

Love the easy to spot reference to Don McLean’s Anthem , “ American Pie.”

A Classic if there was ever one .

Just caught a 9 minute Video of Don doing a Concert in Austin , Texas a few years ago .
He tore the House down when he closed with American Pie !

You can catch it by googling and then seeing on you tube .

Don’s put on a few pounds , who hasn’t but , he nails it again . His Voice is like a 20 year old .

He also does a Cover of Roy Orbison’s “ Crying,” that even Roy marveled at ! Check it out .

McLean spent time as an undergrad at Iona. He graduated with a BA in business

I’m sure Rick has been working with Jenkins, so improvement is expected. Dingle might be a candidate to make a pretty decent jump in that regard since it will be his first exposure to the legend. Maybe he can even help Alleyne add a go-to move or two to expand his game?

Pretty funny, because if Pitino wasn’t the coach, half the board would be going ballistic over this lol.
Not true. If Don Nelson had said the same thing, I would also have confidence (maybe even more so than Pitino).

Other than that though, you're probably right.

I think he’s right to make Soriano a threat to step out. I’ve seen him make some great longer shots. It won’t be his go-to, but we will be a playing a more spread out, Euro style offense where in theory we shouldn’t have any major weak spots where players can’t make a shot.

Helps in recruiting bigs that you will let them take outside shots.

I hear ya Marillac2. Nahiem Alleyne was pretty awesome at Va. Tech. and playing over 30 minutes a game. When he was at UConn he just didn't get to play enough.
