Ricardo Gathers, PF - BAYLOR

 this video from Boo Williams has a Gathers piece in it towards the beggining. I don't remember seeing it so I think its fairly new

 
 Excited to have this kid. Him and Pelle kind of remind me of Baxter/Chris Wilcox duo for Maryland when they won it all. Gathers will be our only real back-to-the-basket scorer. Lav will have a lot of tools at his disposal.

Very reassuring. With all that's been going down, I've been concerned about him wavering on his commitment. 
 
Anyone here have any insight into the rumors that Ricardo took an unofficial to LSU over the weekend, or is thinking of decommitting.

Some posters on the LSU boards claim "its a done deal" that he's recommitting and will sign his LOI with LSU.  

I really hope this isn't the case. The list of potential recruits we're involved with is much smaller than last year. It'd be hard to replace him with high caliber talent.

"As of now" ??? I can fall into the habbit of reading too much into an 17 year old's tweets, just like everyone else, but it would be nice if his response was a little more concrete. That coupled with the LSU rumors, don't prove a thing, I realize that. But it's reason for some concern.

Yeah, seems like he was pretty assertive about being a SJU guy though. He could have just kept quiet. Either way, I know Lavin is on top of all this stuff. He's not the type to let this stuff just fly by without know about any potential snags. Lavin is one of the top few recruiters in the country. I think he'll keep Gathers who is a perfect fit to play with and replace GG.
 
 I'm thinking he was just chatting it up with his friend from down there. Hey we'll know in a few weeks when/if he signs his LOI. I would preSume that if he plans on coming he would just sign early, if he waits till spring signing, I'd venture to guess he would be heading elsewhere.

Again, I wouldn't put too much stock into it. He's likely just humoring this dude. If he wanted to choose LSU, he could have done so a long time ago. It would have been the easy choice. I don't see us losing him at this point, although I could be wrong.
 
 Good point about Coach Lavin. If we're discussing it, it's not like he's in the dark. And he surely knows if one of his recruits is slipping away. I have faith he's on top of this. And if Ricardo is going elsewhere, it's not bc Lavin isn't trying.

Hopefully it's much to do about nothing. Like you said, he could just be humoring a friend with the "yea yea, we'll see" type of talk
 
 I believe a lot of these guys are going to wait to see how the realignment shakes out. If the big east loses more power basketball schools we may not be able to recruit at the level we did this past year going forward.
 
I do not think reallignment will have anything to do with the ability of Coach and his staff to recruit the same way with the same level of kids as always. We have a major league coaching staff and they will recruit maj9r talent.
