RED WHITE CLUB EVENT

Some of you may have noticed a large white board on the sidelines. CMA has team managers charting everything from boxouts, passes leading to open looks and passes leading to passes, about 20 different things. The other day's scrimmage posh had 13 assists and zero turnovers. CMA is quickly falling in love with him as running the show.
Few things make a HC happier and more successful then a talented and effective floor general. And a happy and successful coach makes for a happy fan base.
And from what I saw, Posh is going to make a lot of people very happy ... except opponents, that is.

Yup, a fierce competitor with such good hands and instincts. Just a snapshot, but his on ball D was solid as well. CMA will bring him along nicely and he’s such a plus for a freshman.

Thanks, guys -- I'm really excited by all the observations here.

I thought Posh was going to be a very good three-year starter for us. Pretty clear that he's going to be a four-year starter, so I'll expect special things from this team when he's an upperclassman.

I honestly thought McGriff would be a prime transfer candidate, but if he's happy with the role of pesky backup, it should be a nice one-two punch over the coming years.

I actually expected Moore to be good this year. Not based on anything other than the volume of production in essentially half a game at juco, so I'm happy that he looks good so far.

I can't imagine Dunn will be buried as season goes on, though. Our top eight should be a pretty good and interchangeable bunch, but it sounds like everyone will get minutes.

I know we don't have a bunch of four stars, but if you win (or lose excitingly), we'll get ones to come. Just keep in mind that the Rileys of the world are not coming once they see Posh has the keys. I think 4-star swing men or power forwards who we use as undersized centers are what we'll see if we win this season.

Agree. Fast, strong, athletic. Good decision maker as well. He’s gonna torture lots of league PG’s. Shooting form looked good today too.

Meant to add that I was also very impressed with Cole's perimeter shooting. Sweet stroke.

Just finished the 1st half. Observations:

Cole is automatic from deep. Buried at least 4 threes. Hes a true shooting guard.

Posh is a floor general. Pesky on d and buried 2 threes and his free throws. Hes special.

Moore is such a big upgrade over roberts is scary. He has a real nice offensive game.

Very much so and having a number of guys who can pass to open shooters like obviously Posh, but also a new wrinkle here, big guys like Toro and Moore who pass well.

Glad to hear regarding Moore and McGriff especially. Seems like Posh will be at worst a rock solid player and maybe a very good player all 4 years. Perhaps better shooting by a lot compared to last yr which we will need badly. Posh may be underrated shooter. Anyone know if Champ is missing first several games and waiting for the higher level games?

The announcer made it sound like champys injury is very minor. Said it was a little tweak of the ankle. Id bet hes a full go wed night.

Champ on crutches with a boot. Turn my volume up on computer and screen could barely hear the announcers. They got away from the game in 2nd half. Would have liked to hear players names (did a good job in 1st half) but were just shooting the breeze. Good one towards the end of the second half. Repeated "what a great pass, what a great pass". Didn't say who finished the play nor who made the great pass.

Student announcers? These things happen with non-pros.

A good friend of mine got pulled out of the booth during a baseball game at Dartmouth because he was drunk during his guest commentating role.

Cole is a super smooth shooter and not just from three and Moore as good as advertised in Zach article. What really stuck out to me was we have 12 guys who can all play adequate BE level minutes if needed. Wusu looked very capable out there and McGriff a really crafty ball handler.
Going to be a fun bunch to watch for sure, just hope Champ and Dunn (late game injury) are ok.

Agree. I didn’t say enough about Cole but he looks really good. Warmed up second half. He’s also been out, so shaking off cobwebs. His shooting form is excellent but is also a good athlete and has good hands. We have definitely upgraded our roster with every kid we added. It’s encouraging to say the least.

No worries. It'll come, it'll come.

No review necessary.

I hope this doesn't get deleted for being too political.

(And yes I know he isn't old enough to be President)

Watched full scrimmage. Thoughts....

- mvp: posh alexander.
Hes got the best basketball iq on the team, distributes the ball and gets teammates involved and is the alpha out there. The players know he runs the show and defer to him. He can score too and is very active on D. He will be the starting pg and will play a huge role for us this year.

-vince cole: sharpshooter. Something this team hasnt had in a long time. Collapse when posh drives and he will make you pay from deep. Hes going to get a ton of minutes and should be the starting 2 guard.

- Moore: a big man with offensive skills. Its was a pleasure watching him finish down low and has a real soft touch. Buried his free thows too.

- big surprise: dylan wusu. Looked very comfortable out there. Always made the right play when he got the ball. I thought he might be a bit overwhelmed to start but he was calm, cool and collected out there.

Stinkers: roberts, caraher, earlington, gwill toro and dunn. Maybe the vets just werent up for the scrimmage like the newbies were, but didnt see anything special out of any of these guys.

Thanks for the updates from everybody who watched. Very nice to hear such promising things about the new guys. Looking forward to finally watching some games over the holiday.

Anderson will have a point guard unlike last year. He will also have a much improved outside shooting team and some inside scoring. This should all result in a team that can produce an effective half court offense which was terrible last year.
This could mean less pressure defense this year even though he has more bodies this year to utilize that type of strategy. He will probably deploy different strategies depending on the oppositions strengths.
