Recruiting Impact on “Scandal Schools”

Goodman on “Book”
Book Richardson’s lawyer, Craig Mordock, to @WatchStadium on whether the ex-Arizona asst has reached a plea deal in the wake of Tony Bland’s plea:

“We have made no decisions at this time. Motions have been filed consistent with the court deadlines. We are evaluating our options

Per Jeff Goodman:

BREAKING: Former Arizona assistant Book Richardson has reached a plea deal, his lawyer Craig Mordock told @WatchStadium. Sentencing range is between 18-24 months.

Book Richardson struggled with decision to plea or take the case to court in April, source told @WatchStadium - because his sentencing range was higher than Tony Bland’s. Likely Bland will see no prison time. Richardson will serve time due to higher monetary amount than Bland.

If he got 18-24 you have to imagine he got that thru a plea deal, so you wonder what he gave up...

Zagoria
Boo Richardson, 46, pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit bribery. As a condition of his plea, he agreed to forfeit $20,000. The charge carries a maximum term of five years in prison.

Book admitted to getting $20,000 to steer a player to an "agent", with the plan of using $15,000 to entice a recruit to sign with Zona. The real story, which again gets buried, is how many players, over how many years, got illegal perks, including cash to attend a certain school. Who are those schools, and are they still doing it. That's what should be exposed. Book and the few others facing time are fall guys

Per Mark Schlabach of ESPN
A third former college basketball coach accused of accepting thousands of dollars in bribes to steer players to certain financial advisers and managers once they turned pro will plead guilty to a federal conspiracy bribery charge in New York on Wednesday.

Former South Carolina and Oklahoma State assistant Lamont Evans, who was accused of accepting $22,000 in bribes, will plead guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to commit bribery, his attorney, Johnny McCray, told the Associated Press

Nice comments by Zach on St. John’s. I ‘feel’ he’s rooting for a Johnny win tomorrow. Thanks Paultz.

Per Goodman

Source also told @WatchStadium that Phelps being placed on leave is due an online course involving a recruit who never wound up attending Arizona.

I know most of us feel the head coaches don’t get touched in these investigations, but get the feeling Miller is headed for trouble & the door. We’ll see.

This thread has been grinding on since before Midnight Madness, so my response is:

Effectively none

Ridiculous how the assistants are taking the fall, but I guess that’s the way it’s always been.
