Quinnipiac, Sat., Nov. 9, 2p, FS-2

Do you think there's any chance Glover could be a guy to help on that front?

Since he's a freshman, I lean no, but he seems further along physically than perhaps Wilcher was last year. Would be nice if he could channel his athleticism to being an asset defensively. Cause I agree we could use more quickness in our backcourt
On the wing he’s got a chance to be a good defender already. But pressuring small guards is a whole different ball game.

I think he will get there for the 2/3 some time this year. I worry about teams with smaller, quicker combos. They are going to beat our pressure easily with Smith out.

The difference in quickness and pressure I saw going from our game to Marquette was noticeable.
Dent will be a good test, as will Roach/Edgecombe on Baylor.

I also think Scott & Kadary are two guys who should be able to trap guys. Scott, in particular, should be able to hold his own against smaller guards. It's the only way he'll be able to be a full-fledged NBA prospect.

would like to see Half court trapping... loose pressure 3/4 court... work them into a trap once they cross half... we have the length

Couple of things I'd like to see come to fruition at the end of this game:

1. Zuby bounce back. Quinnipiac isn't a very big team, good spot to get Ejifor back to looking like he did vs Rutgers.
2. Piggybacking off the above, Vince and Ruben continue to establish themselves as very capable and serviceable bigs, 15 mins a piece approx.
3. Hopefully we get this game to a point, like Fordham, where we have a comfortable lead by the U8 timeout of the 2nd half. I want Jaiden Glover, Brady Dunlap to continue to get time on court and find their games. (More Glover than Brady regarding the find part)
4. What does Wilcher have for a repeat performance?
5. St. John's took 26 threes, a team that's trying to figure that part of their identity out, would like to see us take about 5 more (if open and right situation obviously) and hit 2-3 more than we did. Rick is obviously a big proponent of the importance of the 3 so hopefully they take a few more.
6. Quinnipiac has another game tomorrow. They'll be on a day and a half of rest. Would like to see us press more and force them into submission. Forced 19 turnovers vs Fordham, lets exceed that.

I said this same thing to Zach B when he mentioned the amount of threes.

For what it’s worth; 26 3 attempts would be 3rd highest average of any BE team. I think the 9/26 is a great number, and anything more than that would be selfish lol.

Would've also been #1 in ACC, Pac-12 and Big Ten and top 2 in SEC & Big 12

I should have said both makes (9) and attempts (26) would have been good for 3rd in the BE. It’s a high number and a lofty goal for this team who won’t be the highest of volume from deep.

It's obviously way water under the bridge at this point, but if we had a guy like Koby Brea, I'd be fully on board with 30+ attempts each night as a mandate (similar to the Knicks and KAT).

This was a topic on the podcast as well, 35% won't kill you especially when you're so efficient from inside the arc. But I know you want them to come earlier and when the game is not fully decided / more pressure on the guys I suppose.

We want 40%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a data point, with rounding up from 39.5%, 9 teams in the last 3 seasons shot in the 40% range. My concern with the 3’s against Fordham was the quick jacks off the first one that showed with no rebounders in place, and no rhythm or continuity to the possession. You can pretty much get those anytime. Three’s are best shot with inside out ball movement or off offensive rebounds.

I was obviously kidding with the 40%

I think being in the 36-38 range would be really really really great for us, considering how poor we have been historically in that department

I get the kidding,, but since it is done the obviously went right over my head.

Have to agree if there’s one thing I hate it’s a quick jack off. 🤪

Cover... Too bad we can't bet in NY
In the past after getting rid of local bookie and before legal in new york, I've made many a drive over the George Washington bridge just to place a bet having a jersey account. Or nowadays if I want to take st johns game I gave a friend in Jersey my account log in info to place a bet. Just leave yourself "time" to drive to jersey to place the bet meaning dont log in in new york and then have your friend log right in. They caught me on that one time.
