Felt slighted when Lavin got job…used it as “they didn’t want any of us” motivation speech when we played them at Rose Hill during Lavin’s 1st year…think there was a point during Mullin’s tenure when there were rumors of him being considered for staff

Thanks for clarifying it was Mullin when he was sniffing around. Not Lavin.
One of Lav’s teams played maybe the best that group ever played one weekend and destroyed his Fordham team by like 40. I think 13-14 season when we were uber talented and underachieved.

Yes I was there sitting amongst a very unforgiving and classless Rose Hill alumni contingent. In retrospect who could’ve blamed them after them after living in the cellar up until and since, it was their once in century Christmas evening.
Fwiw Pecora and Lavin had a disagreement at the handshake line postgame. Pecora always wanted this job. I did a lot of research on his roster this year, they are stacked for MAAC level and deserving of their preseason acknowledgement.
It’s good to have the majority of the jitters worked out over this exhibition season bc every metric matters come Monday night. It can’t come soon enough. Can’t wait for the banner ceremonies. WE ARE.

That was 2010 year 1 Lavs. Two years later, I think during 13-14, we absolutely destroyed them in MSG shooting some insane percentage from the field and dunking on everyone.

My principal Sr. Mary dePorres (St. Jerome's in Flatbush) picked who could sit for the Regis Exam, and we had a lot of smart kids, I was on the borderline and just missed the cut to sit for the exam. (Mom was supremely pissed at the good Principal). My three best friends all went to Regis and got the finest education, where money was not needed because it was all scholarship, all the time.I could've gone there in 1972 but my parents (mother) didn't want me traveling into Manhattan from Greenpoint. So, I had to take the GG to Queens Plaza, then a bus to Aastoria to Mater Christi. Much safer...
Bright side, MC was brand new and co-ed. Diocesan school too, so cheap.

Didn't realize they were ranked #1 preseason in the MAAC. This game could be more interesting than Iona, which is ranked #6 preseason MAAC.
And battled against a local hero from my area in the Bronx, Donnie Walsh, a Fordham Prep guy, Tar Heel and NBA GM..
