@Providence, Tue., Feb. 13, 7p, CBSSN

Providence is a difficult place for a visiting team to win.

The Providence students are a rowdy assemblage of intoxicated kids that sit under a basket and loud. Recall Jason Williams was arrested at Providence after getting into a spat with PC fans.

If you are a Providence fan you would call the PC fans spirited.

If you are a fan or the visiting team then you would call the PC fans obnoxious.
I think they must import them from red sox and bruins fans

Bad news guys: Heading over to my parents house to watch the game tonight.

Sorry fellas but my parents got a lot of leftovers from their super bowl spread 😂. Don't blame the loss on Daniss tonight, put it on me.
Watch the game in their shed or garage (if they have either one). Maybe you can watch the game blind fold. At least you'll still be able to hear it. 😁

That game was similar. We stayed at the Harrison House is Glen Cove. SU stayed at the Marriott at LaGuardia. We were exchanging phone calls between us and them and the Big East office all morning as the snow amounts that day were unreal. Around 930 we were told that all roads into NYC were closed with a mandatory snow emergency. So,we were expecting a cancellation. At 10am we were told to get on the bus, that NYC were sending a police escort to Glen Cove and another to SU at the Marriott. We were the ONLY people on the LIE into NYC that day beside snow plows. Dave Gavitt and the Big East pulled their weight for the escorts to MSG. Crowd was next to non-existent, no bands or cheerleaders. After the game we could not return to Queens, so the Big East got us a nice hotel for the night.
Because of this, the next year the Big East mandated that all teams for the Tournament had to stay in Manhattan. Back then we were in Glen Cove, Georgetown in White Plains, Seton Hall and Nova stayed at the Meadowlands, SU in Queens and PC and BC and UConn were only teams in NYC.
Im gonna bet during that FRIGID
snowstorm Fran did not drop his pants on the bus.

All this talk of snow and SJU hoops reminds me of the great snowstorm at Syracuse. Not sure if it was Fran’s first or second year here. Anyway we bussed up to the Cuse and stayed at our usual team hotel , Marriott Carrier Circle. Nice hotel, but a long drive on a good day to get to the Carrier Dome. Well bad weather was predicted by the local news so I advised Fran to leave right after 3 PM pregame to arrive with no issues.
Fran discarded my advice( I think he called me Mr Weatherbee) and we stuck it out till our usual 5 PM departure time. Well the big stuff started falling around 3 as predicted and by 5 PM there was already about 4-5 inches on the ground. We start INCHING our way on Thompson Rd. Traffic is at a standstill. Fast forward to 6 PM and we are still at least an hr away with tip off at 7 pm on National TV.
Now Fran is getting agitated, having me call Syracuse’s trainer, to get their AD on the phone. No dice. 630 pm and the bus is stuck in the snow. Fran now wants me to call Big East’s Commissioner Trangese asking him to cancel the game. No dice. We are at the bottom of the hill on a small road STUCK. Fran sees a police car, he jumps out of the bus , waves him down and tells him what’s going on. Fran hops back on the bus and tells me and 3 starting players to cram into the police car and they drive up the hill to the arena. Then another State Police car arrives and takes 3-4 more players. Fran commented that it probably wasn’t the first time some of these players were in the back seat of a cop car ! This goes on for 20 minutes. Finally it’s 715 and they announce a delay in the tip off time as the roof was leaking at the Dome onto the court.

So that gave us time to regroup in the locker room and regain our senses. Game starts with snow plows on top of the Dome trying to get as much snow off to stop the leaks. We must have stopped the game because of wet spots 5-6 times in the first half. They were close to stopping the game on numerous occasions. Not sure if we won or not, but it was a adventure trying to return back to the team hotel that night. Our bus had to be towed to the arena to get us post game. And then to make matters worse, the hotel sent home their food staff workers home with the blizzard, so we didn’t get our usual post game meal. Cold, hungry and tired we retired to our rooms. After that Fran always listened to my travel advice, be it air flights or bus trips 🤣
We ABSOLUTELY won that game!

I am watching it in my son's room(he is away at college) with his St. John's bobble heads.

I'll give Zuby till 1st TV TO. Then I predict Joel returns with a vengeance.
If he doesn't return that way, I have no hopes of him playing with the fire we need the rest of season unless someone elbows him somewhere painful.
