Providence (MSG), Wed., Jan. 10, 6:30p, FS-1

I do not see it yet, but I also never saw it in Champagnie but did see it in Shamorie Ponds so what do I know. RJ to me plays like the game is too boring or slow for him. He gives off the appearance that he is only giving like 75% of effort. His way of play is mysterious to me. He will make an excellent play and then it can be followed up with a WTF are you thinking.
I believe that RJ's problem right now is that he has not come to realize that you can't make up for lost time. He is rushing thin gs and not letting the game come to him. Pitino sat him in the 2nd half when he did not pass to a wide open Soriano. However, I would never question his effort, no one else would have gotten the rebound on Dunlap's missed free throw at the end of the game, that was huge.

Thought this was potentially Jenkins best game of the season. Surprised that Pitino thought otherwise.

Also, Soriano went through a patch in Late Jan/Early Feb of last year where his game clearly dipped before picking up again in the last few games of the season. Seems that patch hit a bit earlier this season. Fatigued a bit?

When Zuby came in for Soriano in the second half the lead went from 4 points back to double digits. Zuby is a better athlete on defense than Soriano.
The team gets picked apart when Soriano leaves the paint and is at the top of the key. Fouling Carter on the 3 pointer was brutal. He could be more aware on help defense on dribble drives when he’s in the post too.

This is literally the first time he’s ever been critical of Jenkins and it comes after by far his best performance. That is the biggest compliment Pitino can give you.

If you are a Pitino player you basically want him to punch you in the stomach after a game.

So I never changed the over under number of 52 after those pages were taken off. I started to think about this being a home game and many posters would be at the game not posting as much to add to the total. Definitely need to keep that part of the equation going forward.

Thread could come close to 50 in the next day or 2 so all in all not a bad guess.

As for the game. Lots of good and definitely some bad in there. But again perfection is not the name of the game. Do what you have to in that particular game and find a way to win.

I give providence a lot of credit for coming back 2 different times against us when it seemed we had it relatively easy. Sure we helped them comeback with mistakes and missed foul shots. But they had to make plays on their end too.

I am embarrassed by how much louder providence fans were than us as a bigger group were.

Took a deep breath and got on lirr. Felt relieved not exultation.

Then someone in the know said, "Last year we lose a game like this 10 out of 10 times"

Luis comes up big when it counts. Ok 1 of 2 from line but got there with foul line clutch rebound. Defended the last gasp 3. Gets my star of the game.

Oh yea. RICK!!!!!!!!

Hope you took the deep breath in BEFORE getting on that train especially if it was the 906!!!

Luis was huge in spots especially that rebound but will give Jenkins the star of the game.

Well i only gave it to Luis after visions of Wusu, Posh, anyone last year coming up empty time and time again without fail with game on the line. Jenkins deserves a lot.

Coming up big with the game on the line, not just baskets but big plays. Luis' step in rebound of Brady's sprained ankle ft clunker. Was phenomenal. What winners do.

Yes was on the 906. It was jammed with Garden fans which I didn't mind one bit.

We won. The first place johnnies, 25% through the Big East season.

I think our bench is taking form with team first guys in Dingle and Zuby really effective in different ways in short, but productive spurts. Not sure what Taylor’s opportunities will be, but I can see Rick having a nice 8 man rotations for most part with his usual curve balls going to 9 some nights.

Lastly, Rick is master of changing defenses on the fly and you can see why it takes a while for kids to catch on. It beats 40 minutes of “heck” for sure
