Providence Game

I don't think this is a good matchup, but it is a very winnable game and I'd be shocked if it wasn't close at the end. Cotton scares me, but stop him and you win. Greeene did a masterful job on him the first time and now we have Jordan playing great D. Gotta take that kid out of the game and be physicla with him from the opening jump. Run him through 1-2 screens before doing anything in the half court. Hard fouls everytime he's in the lane and your beat. Body shots like a boxing match.

I dont think you can call it a masterful job when he (we) had a chance to make one stop to win the game and he let cotton blow by him for an and-one.
 
Cotton is gonna get his. It seems like he always finds a way to get at least 20+. They key is to not let him get 30+. Henton and Batts are the guys we need to contain. If we can limit them then I like our chances
 
Dom played 26 minutes in that game. Curious if Lavin plays him more Thursday than the 5 minutes he got Saturday.
 
I hope Lavin goes 8 deep for most of the game. The team seems to play better with an 8 man rotation.

I agree with you Redstorm80. We need Obepka, Sanchez, Sampson and Gift to control the boards better than they have been and not let Henton and Batts clean up with second chance points.
 
The low post defense has to be the main concern for SJU. Cotton is a great player but we have quick defenders to slow him down. In the Xavier loss our bigs got thrown around and Sat vs Marq. the ball got thrown inside the first 5 or 6 times they came down court.
Everyone we play from here on is going to try to exploit what is an obvious weakness.

Masterful may have been a bit strong, but 14 points in a full 40 minutes during regulation is a great performance from GREENE! Cotton was 1-8 from three. If he goes for 14 or goes 1-8 from three...we win Thursday.
 
I've lost every bit of perspective for this game. This game feels like 97-98 BET game vs. Cuse, the Detriot NCAA game, the BC game BET game in 03 and the BET championship game in 2000. All games I lost perspective. I have reworked my vacation to be there tomorrow so I have only two questions: what section are you all sitting so I can join fellow nut cases and where do I pay for the Stouts reception?

We have so much riding on this game I'm going into my old bag of tricks and betting PC. Probably 2 to 1 dogs. It's the equivalent of taking Xanax. Rather then being nervy I just more or less sit back and root for the Redmen knowing if we lose I won't be as disappointed. 500 dollars in exchange for some despair. I hope we win though!!!!
