Private Practice MSG

Obviously can't jump to major conclusions based off the stats of one practice scrimmage but some thoughts.

Looks like Wilcher isn't shy about taking it to the rim this season. 5 fouls drawn (though maybe it was Luis reaching since he only had 2 FT attempts) and 5 of his shots got blocked. Hopefully those numbers improve as he gets to play off the ball more as it looks like he was the only real ball handler on his team here.

Not going to fret about Scott going 1-8. There will games like that for him and others where he's 4-8.

Rough day for Prey. 6 fouls in 26:30 and no fouls drawn. 3 turnovers and 4 missed shots. As of now, I'm penciling him in as a zero for this season with the hope that he'll surprise me at some point.

Lefty with a Max Hooper type game, 7 of his 8 shot attempts were 3s and didn't do a whole lot else.

Zuby leading his team in FG attempts not great, but the 6 fouls drawn is good, looks like he was abusing Prey.

Nice game for Glover.

Overall we know Kadary, Smith and Luis will get as many minutes as they can handle. Zuby and Vince will probably break down somewhere around 25-15 in favor of Zuby but could shift depending on the opponent. Scott will get first crack at solid minutes but could see extended minutes on the bench if he's cold. Wilcher, Dunlap, Glover and Lefty will probably fluctuate based on who's hot with Wilcher the main guy until somebody plays him to the bench. Prey, Maker and Ayo seem like end of bench guys at this point.
Glad you weren't my coach. Did you read the pub crawl post where the staff lauded Prey. Prey played 26 minutes where Rick's boy logged the 3rd most minutes. Rick being Rick. Not going to fret about Scott going 1-8, but Prey. 6 fouls in 26:30 and no fouls drawn. 3 turnovers and 4 missed shots. As of now, I'm penciling him in as a zero for this season with the hope that he'll surprise me at some point. So Scott is being looked at by the staff as a likely starter but you're already showing Prey the door.
Nice game for Glover. Ya think so? The leading scorer? Dunlap, Glover and Lefty will probably fluctuate based on who's hot? How hot would you like Glover to be? Or Dunlap?

Tom, aren’t they all Ricks boys, no? He’s going to play the ones he thinks will give them the best chance to reach their ceiling.

Per the article, right now Richmond, Ejiofor and Wilcher are the only three Pitino has committed to as starters and he expects the starting lineup to change frequently. Smiths hamstring and shoulder injuries has probably put him behind which IMO is why he isn’t included as a starter at this point.
If we learned anything from last year is Rick hates consistency in a starting lineup.

He didn't last season. Ledlum and Dingle, his boys, shot 31.1% from 3I.5% from the line, Taylor almost 43%. Taylor played 17 mpg, 7th on the team. Ledlum and Dingle 29 & 25 mpg.

I just don’t understand the “his boys” stuff. They are all his guys.

if you think Taylor deserved more minutes than he got, I won’t disagree. But if you think Pitino thought not playing Taylor gave the team a worse chance and just decided to do it anyway, I don’t know what to tell you.

He attended Blair. He sleeps in Brooklyn. Geography ain't Pitino's strong suit. Stick to the whistle.

When Sha got the Hall job, he was asked how it getting the job especially being from Jersey, he replied, I’m from the BRONX!!!
