Private Practice MSG

I'm still pissed that Pitino played the seniors overs Sim, but that's just me.
He had better not mess with the Brooklyn freshman this season. He better not cost us a bid again this season.
Rick said at the luncheon that the “Brooklyn” freshman “keeps saying he is from Brooklyn but he is from Jersey.”

shooting in MSG has to be so much different than Tafner or Alumni that's why Pitino probably had them there besides the "aura"
Exactly. Have everyone familiar with the size, depth perception, etc. Can't hurt and could help avoid a subpar first MSG game like we saw against Michigan last year

Gotta consider both sides of every option when looking at an inner squad scrimmage.

~ Vince scoring 16 on 7-9
+ great production on great efficiency.
- Could zuby struggle guarding the taller bigs we will face?

~ Aaron Scott going 1-8 from 3
- not great, obviously.
+ must be shooting it well in practice to have that type of green light. Was not a high volume shooter as North Texas.

~ White team shooting sub 40% as a
team.
- 38% team shooting is atrocious.
+ maybe Kadary, Luis, and Zuby as a defensive trio can have this type of effect.
I’d imagine Scott was being set up by Smith for weeks and likely burying a food chunk of those good looks.

Zuby, at 6’8, is more of an old school PF than a center so he will likely struggle against huge centers in the half court. Hence why Vince was added.

Not going to read to much into an intrasquad because there is no way to emulate the intensity of a real game and the teams are watered down.

Don't shrink Zuby. I've met him a bunch of times and I believe he he at least the 6'9 listed witth a 7 ft plus wingspan

Per the article, right now Richmond, Ejiofor and Wilcher are the only three Pitino has committed to as starters and he expects the starting lineup to change frequently. Smiths hamstring and shoulder injuries has probably put him behind which IMO is why he isn’t included as a starter at this point.

I'm going to bet that Rick has a good idea who the other two will be but knows healthy competition to earn starters minuted is a very good thing to keep everyone working hard.

He attended Blair. He sleeps in Brooklyn. Geography ain't Pitino's strong suit. Stick to the whistle.

Obviously can't jump to major conclusions based off the stats of one practice scrimmage but some thoughts.

Looks like Wilcher isn't shy about taking it to the rim this season. 5 fouls drawn (though maybe it was Luis reaching since he only had 2 FT attempts) and 5 of his shots got blocked. Hopefully those numbers improve as he gets to play off the ball more as it looks like he was the only real ball handler on his team here.

Not going to fret about Scott going 1-8. There will games like that for him and others where he's 4-8.

Rough day for Prey. 6 fouls in 26:30 and no fouls drawn. 3 turnovers and 4 missed shots. As of now, I'm penciling him in as a zero for this season with the hope that he'll surprise me at some point.

Lefty with a Max Hooper type game, 7 of his 8 shot attempts were 3s and didn't do a whole lot else.

Zuby leading his team in FG attempts not great, but the 6 fouls drawn is good, looks like he was abusing Prey.

Nice game for Glover.

Overall we know Kadary, Smith and Luis will get as many minutes as they can handle. Zuby and Vince will probably break down somewhere around 25-15 in favor of Zuby but could shift depending on the opponent. Scott will get first crack at solid minutes but could see extended minutes on the bench if he's cold. Wilcher, Dunlap, Glover and Lefty will probably fluctuate based on who's hot with Wilcher the main guy until somebody plays him to the bench. Prey, Maker and Ayo seem like end of bench guys at this point.

It seems essential to have a true point guard in Smith on the court as much as possible to orchestrate offensively and set an aggressive tone on D. I will be happy to see him return sooner than later.
See your point Bob, but after watching Kadari run the point against us the last 3 years, I selfishly want him running it "with" our guys.

As an AA major I interned with the Knicks in the PR dept as a senior. The first time I went up the Garden floor and shot around with the place empty I missed my first five shots by like a foot. And I don't suck (well, I do now but I didn't then LOL). Felt like trying to throw it in a hole in the middle of the ocean. Hard to describe how bad it throws off your depth perception.

What I miss most about Lou's coaching? Consistent lineups.
