Obviously a lot of Nova $$ came in.
Absolutely no problem with that. Think we have a great shot tonight.

I woke up feeling relatively optimistic this morning about tonight’s game which is not often the case going into challenging games lately. While this game may not determine whether we make the NCAA’s or not a win will significantly increase our chances and help our seeding if we finish out the season strong.

More importantly it will be interesting to see if the team can get a win in a tough game a month before Selection Sunday. In terms of talent Villanova may be very similar to the team we would see in the first round of the NCAA’s. As long as we don’t get any tweets an hour before the game that one of our starters isn’t playing I like our chances. I won’t guarantee a win but I will be very disappointed if we are not right there in the closing seconds. I am in Section 107.

St. John's will host verbal commit Nate Tabor tomorrow, along with CJ Wilcher, Andre Curbelo, Moussa Cisse and RJ Davis. Good group of locals.

I would say “very good”
Where is Cisse playing these days? Never see him in CTK boxscores.

Completely agree with sentiments expressed in your post Andrew. This is a game we need to win or at a minimum be in to the last minute. Players and coach said all the right things in pre-game quotes, but it is time to back it up on the court. A third consecutive loss in MSG would be disappointing.

Thanks. Glad its an injury because I had heard over the summer there was some doubt about eligibility due to a [ossible age discrepancy.

BREAKING NEWS: Marvin Clarke will start the game with one foul. Ref made the call this morning as he bumped Gillespie in the lockerroom tunnel.

Saw Gillespie on Seventh Avenue early this morning practicing flopping in cross walks

A key to the game today is for Ponfs to outplay and outscore Phil Booth . Including more 3’s . Shamorie hasn’t taken as many 3’s as he did earlier in the Year . We need a bigger game from Heron than the 8 Points he scored in the first outing . Actually , we need all our guys having good games together. . One of our tendencies of late , is to get a good lead in the first half and then wilt in the second , like at Butler and Marquette . We need more than 35 minutes of good basketball to beat Nova . Especially better shot selection when the game is on the line . We could use a full game from Figgy and Clark without foul difficulty . Let’s go !

PR from yesterday:

St. John's will look to fill Madison Square Garden for the second time in as many seasons. The Red Storm's victory over No. 4 Duke last season attracted 19.812 fans to "The World's Most Famous Arena." MSG last reached full capacity for a regular-season BIG EAST contest on Feb. 4, 2012, against No. 2 Syracuse.

Great to see MSG sold out against a Big East opponent. I wonder when was the last time we sold out against a current Big East team.

What other head coach on any level would be mentioned in the same breath with their junior assistant?
Other than you trying to take a swipe at Mullin, why would you label him a junior assistant?
It wasn't a swipe Skippy. It was very direct and to the point. What would you label GSJ? Associate Head Coach? Co-coach? The guy was never an assistant anything anywhere and in any program in America he would be a junior assistant.
Heck, I doubt he even knows where Marillac Hall is located.

Pitt I'm pretty sure was sold out, but they don't count as a current BE team.

Probably Georgetown in the late 80s or early 90s.

EDIT: Maybe Georgetown when Iverson and Lopez were the hyped freshman.
