Kids want to play, so to me Cragg did good job digging up a game. Take everyone seriously though and grab this one. Do agree letting Greg and Posh recover seems wise, but knowing Posh he'll push to play. Greg's injury is more complicated it appears, so caution there seems prudent.
Yea everyone poo pooing the opponent needs to remember that there weren't many teams that didn't already hit the threshold of 7 OOC games AND have this same type of lay off where they could get a game in. Better to keep everyone sharp and hopefully get a win and build confidence.

22 years later and I still recall those games fondly because weirdly enough, two heartbreaking losses are what taught us how to win the big ones later on. At the time I was super pissed, though. Still remember a NorCal friend calling me when St. John's was leading Stanford in an attempt to jinx the game. He hung up on me when Stanford took the lead for good. Went to the next game and got to be completely demoralized all over again./media/kunena/emoticons/grin.png

I am a bit dissapointed that they added this game. Obviously playing during this pandemic at all has risks and the decision has been made to have a season for a combination of financial incentives and people wanting to play. Each additional game clearly adds some amount of risk in terms of people being exposed to the virus, so I just don't see the need to add a nonconference game when we have plenty of games ahead of us and we've been fortunate to not have to pause thus far. I'll be rooting for the Johnnies of course anyway. It will be quite interestng if this is what keeps the streak alive. If so, I'll be impressed, given the tough schedule ahead.

Honestly, playing this game doesn't really increase the risk of contracting it that much.  It's what the kids and staff are doing day-to-day that contributes much more to risk aka Jay Wright's family Christmas plans.

Has anyone seen/heard an update on Greg Williams injury status? If he can't go and Posh is still hurting would expect we might see more court time than usual for McGriff in tomorrow's game, especially if Wusu gets in any early foul trouble.

WHEN Wusu gets in foul trouble.  I love the kid, but I'd swear that his interpretation of being given #5 is that it means he's supposed to use all 5 of his fouls every chance he gets.  I'm sure he'll grow out of it by next year, but right now you can't count on him playing significant minutes in any game without fouling out

I think he's being discriminated against by his size and while aggressive for sure its an open invitiation for a whistle.

Then again college ball is ruined by the constant whistle blowing all game long but I digress

100% - any time there's contact the refs just assume Wusu is pushing people around even when it isn't his fault.  But he has to learn what the story is with that, and also move his feet more so he gets into better position.

Agree with both of you guys. During Monday's game, one of the announcers, I don't remember who, said that he wouldn't be surprised if some college football coaches were looking at Wusu now! He is built and I do believe that he gets no slack at all when he barely touches anyone.

So true. On bright side he has a couple times the last few games held up on the break instead of driving recklessly and picking up an offensive foul. For such a strong kid he has a nice feel for the game offensively.

St Johns junior guard Greg Williams Jr. has practiced this week after playing only six minutes in Monday’s win over UConn due to a back injury. Status for tomorrow, however, is uncertain. #sjubb

We need Greg for the Depaul game. Just as soon he'd rest the back tomorrow.

Perfect. We can start Nyiwe at the two.

Someone above in this thread when discussing the "covid" threat of playing this OOC game, mentioned that players and coaches day to day protocols are more important, ""aka, Jay Wright and his Christmas plans""

What is the reference, I know Villanova had a long shut down, but what did Jay Wright do??

Just curious, he seems like a smart guy.
