Very surprised that our coach who is very concerned about this deadly pandemic has no problem letting kids fly cross country to play a meaningless game.

Im surprised no one is calling him out on this.

How did you arrive at the conclusion that CMA is VERY concerned about the pandemic? Most of the time during games he wears his mask on his chin. He was slightly better wearing his mask during the CT game.

becasue theose are conference games RedstormNC.  They have to be played.  You know that.

Coach has banged on how dangerous this pandemic is and how important it is to keep the kids safe and is now playing a meaningless game and having a team fly cross country.  What is the kids from utah get sick?

You cant have it both ways.  Coach should get crushed for this but as we all know, no one will say a peep.
Not true. You're making a peep now. And by the way, people are flying every day now and some say it's probably safer on a plane becuase of the steps airlines have taken and the fresh air being circulated inside the cabin.
Ill make a peep cause I have balls.  But very few will.
LOL! Just because people may not agree with you and don't feel the need to post it, doesn't mean they have no "balls."  Yikes. People disagree all the time on this forum.

FWIW Coached by Mark Madsen ... Stanford double grad, 2-time All-American, 2-time NBA champ, Stanford and Lakers Asst coach. A mix of transfers and Utah HS recruits.  Don't think this is a walkover.

Let's get a little payback for 1998 Preseason NIT semifinals at the Garden.

safer on a plane than what?  A plane is definitely a risk, particularly with the new more contagious variant

I don't want to hijack this thread so I would say that if you researched your question, you will find your answer.

Didn't see this posted. If it was, I missed it. But this game will be on FS1 on Saturday. Glad that this game could be scheduled to be broadcast on such short notice.

My two cents worth.

I have mixed feelings about playing this game and the more I think about it, the more I rather not.

A nine day lay off especially after the layoff around Christmas, adds rust and you would like to be able to build off your recent big win so I get that.  However, the down time of a couple of days off and a light practice or two during that time could do wonders for Posh's bruised body, Champs bad finger (I haven't seen it posted but he kept looking at it and pulling on it in the second half.  Could be the same one he jammed earlier) and Greg's back.

I do have one other concern.  The league games is one thing as mentioned you have to play, but I do have concern about playing a non-league opponent and whether they are flying in or local doesn't matter.  We have been lucky not to have had to shutdown and that risk is always there, even if you doing things right.  I;d rather not tak the risk of playing a non-league foe and something potentially happening and we have to shutdown for two weeks.  Cases in Utah have been like a rollercoaster lately and is trending down, but still.

Not getting on a soapbox and it is not my call but just my two cents worth on the matter.

Understand your concerns but you can gear time more toward your healthy players and give more time to guys like Cole, Moore, Wusu, Roberts, Earlington. Use banged up guys only if needed.

Mark Madsen was a really, really good college player.

Other than that this thread is kind of silly.  We needed a game, we picked up a game.  It should be a game we can win.  That's all good, and other than scouting the opponent, the rest of it is whatever.

People who actually have balls don't make a big show of announcing that they have balls. And honestly, does making an anonymous statement on a fan board actually take any balls whatsoever?

And to keep this on topic, what was that time again that we're rolling the balls out against Utah Valley?

Not sure how I feel about this game against a team whose NET Ranking is currently 202 in one of the weakest conferences, the WAC.  This is a game that could only help Utah Valley State and does little for St. John's, except to not get rusty during a long layoff, even if it blows them out (not entirely likely).  It seems to me that other local schools who need games, like Siena (whose NET Ranking is currently higher than St. John's), could have been a better option.

All that said, I will be watching and rooting, as always, and hoping for a win.
