IIRC he was supposed to work a couple of other St. John's games that season but was pulled off and worked other games instead.

No excuses, step up and grab this win v less than stellar SH w/o their PG[/quote]

Agree. This one is all defense. They are no offensive juggernaut except for Mamu. Should be a good one. We need to be ready for this one.

Have no idea how we stop mamu. I saw them vs penn state and he absolutely ran rough shot on Ridley for penn state.

He worked the Villanova game the next week and then no other St. John's games the rest of the year. Somehow they still let him work the NCAA Championship game that year. I will never forgive him for his lying after that game and how Val Ackerman and Stu Jackson condoned it and did everything they could to make it go away. A shameful example of people in power treating their customers like dirt.

Didn't we recruit Mamu? If so, what team would he have joined? A lot of our near misses recently have done very well. Curbelo, Lecque, French, etc.

We were actually one of first few colleges to get involved with him, but for whatever reason did not sustain interest as I recall.

The perfect example of doing everything in your power to try to tell everyone what you just saw is not what actually happened. If they simply had said we screwed up we might still be frustrated but it’s just part of life and s*it happens. Instead they outright lied about it. To this day I have zero respect for the ref, Ackerman and Stu Jackson. They are all dishonest people.

Beating dead horse and yes this is a different group, it is important to improve our 1-8 Conference road record last year to give team confidence. What better way to reverse that blemish by beating the Pirates and set course for second one at Butler? Let’s make some noise out of the gate.

As far as guarding Mamu, we will be playing team defense and of course might need some help at times on him. That said, I think our game will be as good as our defense. Gotta really pick it up. We are currently last in the big East in FG % defense. Seton hall though is right behind us so they are porous as well. Seton hall leads the league in 3-pt %, so we need to either shut them down from outside, or shut down their inside game totally and make them chuck.

Moore has the length and athleticism to stop Mamu, but Mamu is very crafty and plays well within his limitations. . Should be an interesting and fun game.

I really hope this is the year we finally get out to a fast start in conference play. Kills us every yr with these 1-5 starts.

SJU may get a break if the Seton Hall backcourtman can’t play Friday they will probably have trouble handling the SJU press.

Seton Hall has basically been playing 7 guys the past 3 games. There's no way that's going to fly considering how much full court pressure we'll put on them.

In theory, yes...but how many times have we seen depth play no role in helping us getting beat by teams with a 6 man rotation? I think the whole tiring out thing is a bit overrated...we usually look just as tired as the opponent, depth or not.
