Only positive of a Noon game is that the crowd from CT won't have THAT many hours to drink before tipoff. Those fans are notoriously drunk when they get off those buses on 31 St and Eighth Ave.

There have been night games at the Garden where their fans start out early drinking all the way down here, then hit as many bars as possible, then head into the game absolutely hammered.

This reminds me of my early hatred for UConn fans. Their fans are drunk, obnoxious and arrogant at the same time.

Just hoping Sunday can be a Super win for our guys. They've been working hard and deserve to win a close one as they've lost some tough close ones.

It seems as though most losses have been one or two possession games with under 2 mins to play. It's as if we have to break through a glass ceiling. We need posh and JC healthy but if they are it may all be coming.

Should schedule this one at UBS in the future….. We will be severely outnumbered Sunday
We are at the point where the only thing left in the season of importance is the Big East tournament.  I would not play Posh or Champy unless they are 100% healthy.  Winning the big east tourney is all we got.

Cant agree with this game not counting. They are killing it on the recruiting trail with like 8 4 star kids over the past two years. Johnnies are after many of the same kids so we need to win the game to show that we can compete. For the record, I thought UConn being brought into the league was a big mistake. They are using their large state school funds in their recruiting process while upgrading their facilities to attract high end recruits. The leagues braintryst thought more about the financial ramifications for the front office then they did for the negatives for the local Big East teams.

UConn strengthens the league im glad they came back. Can’t be scared of competition look at it as another chance for a big time win. Syracuse, Pitt, and Boston College need to bring their asses back home too lol. They’re a shell of their former selves down in the ACC. Too bad football money is too good, ruined the best conference there ever was. Wonder if the big east will ever add a 12th team not too many non football options out there.

This just brings back all of my old hatred of UCONN fans. They are the most obnoxious fans in all of college basketball. Years ago, at a BE tourney game with Nova playing UCONN, my Nova fan friend was sucker punched by a drunk UCONN fan and I jumped out of my seat and grabbed him and was about to wail on him when I got grabbed by security and told to sit down. We were lucky that we didn't get thrown out. Security just told us to not even look at each other. In another game I went to up in Storrs, a drunk UCONN fan knocked my St. John's hat off my head while I was walking to the men's room.
They also don't have the courtesy to sit the F down at the beginning of the game until their team makes a basket. I yelled at a UCONN fan in front of me at MSG once and he gave me a hard time telling me that it was "tradition". I told him to keep it in his own house and be considerate of others when you're not at home. I REALLY hate UCONN fans.

I was at a Uconn/SJU game about 15 years ago in MSG. It was a game we were losing by 20 points with about 7 Minutes to go. (Similar to the recent Villanova game). There were 3 couples of Uconn fans sitting behind me enjoying the game as they should. SJU made a gigantic comeback and got the game back to 3 points. During the comeback, me, my wife, and the other couple with us began rooting vociferously for the comeback. The Uconn fans became very quiet. As happened on Tuesday, the SJU comeback fell short and we lost by about 6 points or so. The one particular Uconn fan got real close to my ears, yelling at me that they won and we lost. He didn't let up and kept harassing me. At the time I had a full cup of beer. I stood up, turned towards this asshole, and threw my beer in his face. He was in shock, but after a few seconds he started to make a move towards me. But to my astonishment his girlfriend and the others with him restrained him and  told him he deserved it.

So my memory of Uconn fans is two fold. Drunken front runner assholes with friends who are not,.

Of course, one of my fondest memories of a SJU- UCOnn game occurred during Walter Berry’s final season in 1986.    A friend of mine was a UCONN fan and had tickets to the game in Hartford .  We went together and Uconn was leading by about 15 by the end of the first half . The Place was raucous .    Berry went off for like 20 something second half points and we pulled away for the Win . It was a dejected and beaten Crowd that left the Hartford Civic Center that night .  It was a great feeling .   Will those days ever return ?   We can only hope . And , pray .

Sonogo looked dominant v Marquette, should be a challenge obviously

We will either need a different Soriano than the guy who played against Nova or a breakout game from Nyiwe (possible, he's making progress) or Stanley.

Though if Posh is out I am not sure it matters, unless UConn's offensive struggles return and we can eke out a low-scoring defensive battle.

We’ll need to double-team Sonogo frequently. Anderson needs to go back to the drawing board and design a simple defense that can confuse their players, not ours. I don’t see Posh returning any time soon. Coach needs to alert the refs, pre-game, about 3-seconds violations and hand checking.

Plain and simple without Posh I don't see how we win this game, although anything is possible....

I hope he gets healthy and we can enjoy some of the remaining games at full strength.  As incredibly frustrating as this season has been, we have lost a number of very close games. As our NCAA tournament hopes are now just some miraculous run through the Big East Tournament, I can watch the games with less stress until then. Watching them without Posh is just not the same,

This repeated line (not necessarily saying it you are one of them Dan V but it did come up in your post) of people not wanting UConn being brought let back into the the Big East (which they of course eventually were) was not because we were scared of the competition it was because of one or more of the following:
  1. They were and despite how bad their football program is, they still are a FBS School'
  2. They are a State School
  3. The belief that they would leave again if an offer from one of the Big 5 conferences came leaving us high and dry
Scared of playing of them would be counter to our complaint of having too weak of an out of conference schedule.

As for Sunday's game, unfortunately I have an obligation that I can't get out of (really wish I could) so I won't be there but my sons will be.  The only saving grace of not being there, is I don't have to be around those UConn fans.

I am hoping for a let down by a UConn team that takes us lightly after a big win this week, but they had been scuffling and seem to be intent on going on a roll.

Depending on the availability of Posh and Julian, this could get ugly really fast.

I wish I could watch this game without stress but my dislike for UConn wont allow that to happen.

Update: U Conn got beaten up on the boards by Xavier.

This means that the over/under for the rebounding margin in our game will be something like UConn by 20 boards.

Our big guys better bring their hard hats to this one or it will be ugly in the paint.

+1,000

Sorry gents, but playing games in Long Island is lame.        One of the few selling points we have is playing games at MSG.  It’s part of our identity.  Playing our biggest games in Long Island will undoubtedly push our program into further obscurity and is a sure fire recipe for lousy turnouts.

Not suggesting we stop playing at MSG, just that the UConn game be played at UBS which drew well for the Kansas game.  I have a feeling Sunday's game at MSG is going to feature a tough-to-swallow, large, obnoxious UConn crowd.
Uconn and Villanova are the only two profitable games at MSG.   They aren't going to be moved anywhere.

Hmm.....what should I wear to tomorrow's game?  Definitely gotta wear red.

Didn't see the Uconn/X game but 35/31 rebound edge by Xavier doesn't seem like beating up Uconn.  In perspective we outrebounded Uconn 47/45 in first game.  We need Posh healthy for this one as he had 10 in first game (and Dylan and Monty combined for 13) and rest of our backcourt to be active to win boards as our front court concentrates on boxing out

Looks like the entire huntington train line to mineola is having work done somewhere making the train way too long of ride with switches. So now have to drive to garden city just to get that separate train line. mjmaherjr will be walking into MSG in a bad mood tomorrow hopefully they can shock me with a win

Knight, do you have inside info on Posh or just speculating?  Hopefully the latter.
