Why do I have a feeling that they won't shoot 2-16 from 3 and only go to the line once in the 1st half of our game?
Yea you can see this coming a mile away. They look awful today but will be hot tomorrow.
It isn’t just a cold shooting thing. They aren’t a sharp team. They don’t creat shots very well and their post defense ha sheen horrendous. Three forwards watched a usc player miss a shot, scramble for the ball and then get back up and dunk it on them they all watched. They’re gonna have a very hard team keeping up with the pace and even if they shoot better than today, they’ll struggle with our speed at both ends.

BC was a lot better than this team.

This is also the first 'real' game BYU has played this year. One of their 3 previous wins wasn't even a D1 team.

I'll trust you MCNPA. I'm running around this afternoon so have only actually watched for about 2 minutes. Just checked in on the halftime boxscore. Hopefully we run them off the court.
BYU is terrible. We should beat this team easily.
They are not going to play this bad tomorrow but I agree with Paultzman that our athleticism will give them problems. Watching them , they don’t have a lot of team speed. They’re a bunch of spot up shooters

A coaching Captain Obvious statement, the team you are playing are as good or bad as the way they play the day you play them. BYU has been around and successful for a long time and I disagree who anyone who thinks tomorrow is a gimme because of the way they are playing now. And I will still feel that way should we blow them out tomorrow. A question, which team was BC, the team that got beat by 30 in the middle minutes last night or the team that beat us by 26 in the beginning and end? The answer, BOTH and that was within the same game. Flip the question and the same Jekyll and Hyde applies to us.

Totally agree. We have some matchup advantages we can exploit but we will almost certainly get a better offering from BYU then they are giving USC today. I wouldn’t pencil in anything

They just got whacked by 26. All that means to me is they might play with more desperation tomorrow. Need to show up and get it done. Take nothing for granted.

For what it is worth U.S.C. presented matchup problems for B.Y.U. that we do not. The Trojans have tremendous length and athleticism on the defensive end and that is not a strength of ours. Their uber-strong interior defense and perimeter denials totally rattled B.Y.U. and counteracted their strengths. I do believe our quickness will create problems for the Cougars but I do not expect us to handle B.Y.U. in the same manner the Trojans did today.

BYU will be looking to inflict some Haarms on us. Ah, I crack myself up!

Crack? Oh, not again. :silly:

St Johns opens as a 2-point underdog tomorrow against BYU. Considering BYU poor play today, this line has to move, no?

Tempting to Johnny fans who gamble

they had trouble adjusting to the heavier air at sea level. Look for their shots to fall tomorrow.;)

I still think we can harass these guys, don't know if they have the ball handlers that can deal with the pressure.

Haarms played 24 mins, 6 Reb, 11 points in the loss to USC.
Apparently he's recovered from the ankle injury. Who will guard this 7 ft 3in guy? Hey let 6 ft McGriff try. LOL
Caraher may play a lot in this game. He's 6 ft 6 in. St John's needs all their big men on the court.

Definitely winnable, but come on guys...we've all been fans way too long to know nothing makes sense...except that ice cold teams play us and suddenly can't miss. I'm actually happier when we play teams that are red hot beyond the arc. Because I figure it can't keep up with us playing the next game. When teams go ice cold, they are due the next game especially a team like BYU. Will be interesting to see Posh up against 7 footers in paint. I think we are way more athletic, but BYU is a very good program and borderline major. Let's not get cocky.

USC is long and tall but I didn’t think they were particularly fast in the open court. Certainly a lot bigger than we are but our speed is a lot different than USC. Again, it won’t be an easy game, but BYU got TONS of good looks from all over.

The BYU Board is full of shocked fans who can't believe how poorly they shot vs USC. Post prior to the game anticipated getting ranked in the Top 20, after beating USC and off last year's performance.
The coaches and players all are committed that they will not walk off the floor tomorrow allowing anything akin to the USC game to happen again. They intend to "show the world who the real BYU" team really is off that "horrendous performance" vs USC. Lots of emotion about not showing enough intensity deep into the second half.
Everyone expects the shooting percentage to go back to normal. Based on no understanding of SJU except our record over recent years, the expectation is they win by 10, dominating the boards and hitting 3s. There were actually few comments about SJU. Almost everything is about their own need for vindication.
very interesting dynamic. Should make for an intense game.
