On the bright side I thought Trimbles defense has been pretty good. Certainly putting good effort in

Thought Dixon had another good game from a defensive perspective. He did not allow any dribble penetration and his rotations and closeouts where much better.

Agree. He fights underneath against bigger bodies.

Fiqueroa has to be one of the best finishers at the basket, unlike Dixon and Simon.
It's great that Ponds picks up many assists, however I want him to take the percentage shot at the foul line rather then hit the corner.
Still the only unranked undefeated team in the top 25.
Want Williams to get more playing time. No reason he can't get some of Trimble's playing time.

I’m ok without us hitting the top 25 right now. We aren’t playing very well and wins don’t say everything. Still haven’t put 2 halves together in many games this year. Our undefeated record I think is still good for us. Still waiting for us to play a good game or two back-to-back.

Guys, there is a reason Coach trusts & plays Trimble as his first or second guy off the bench. He plays (and gets back on) defense, doesn't turn the ball over and hits an occasional open three (understands his role). As long as he does those things, he will get minutes.

Think Trimble even though he’s gone though a shooting slump has made a jump. His shots are starting to fall. Defense has been good like it has been mentioned, still stands out when he locked the Bowling Green guard up that lead to a comeback victory.

Trimble does everything you want a 7th or 8th man to do. His shot hasn't fallen yet, but he's always close. It's just a matter of getting a bigger sample size. He'll shoot 4-6 some game soon...just watch. His strength allows him to be versatile for us.

In a lot of ways he is the antithesis of Simon. He does finish some crazy plays that I have to rewind to see how he pulled it off. I'm interested to see if he can do this against better competition. He has a way to lay it off the glass going full speed in the lane...and it looks like a line drive coming out of his hand, but goes in.

The kid get just gets buckets.

I’m fine with Trimble’s play. He plays hard and fights on the boards.

He is a role player that doesn’t force the action and limits his number of shots.

Agree with all the comments onTrimble regarding his role, defense, effort and 3 pt shot hopefully starting to fall. Just find it massing that a player of his size and playing in the BE does not even attempt to dribble, drive to the basket or shoot off the dribble. Certainly has a role on the team and he is embracing it. Just find it interesting/amazing!!!

Two observations through ten games;

LJ & Ponds are most cerebral SJU players out there & play so well together. They know the game so well & one would assume they have been together for a few seasons.

Most expected Ponds & Heron to form one of best backcourts in country. However, Heron seems out of sync a bit & to date not the offensive force expected.(although 15/game not shabby) Obviously early, but one does have to wonder if his role banging with bigger players out of necessity takes its toll on other end of court. No knock on a player I greatly value, just a random thought.

I still don't think this team has played a full, two half game of basketball. Yesterday the first half, given the talent disparity, was almost a disaster. Too many times their were 5 guys hanging on the perimeter waiting to take 3 point shots. No chance at a rebound.

Second half was much, much better. Guys moving to the basket, more resistance on defense etc. I wish I knew why but this has been the way several of the games have been played. I would like to see SJU put together the elusive two halves before we hit conference play.

In addition, we need to get Mustapha Heron on his game. I really believe in him as a player. Right now he is struggling. I mean this kid is like an 80% FT shooter in his career and yesterday he actually air-balled one yesterday. Something is in his head. CM and staff need to get him right. His confidence looks a little shaken and we need him. He will be a big player if he stays under control and plays his game.

Agree completely and I will add that heron is still figuring his important role on this team and I think as the next month of games roll around we will see how good a player he is. They will figure it out and hopefully sooner than later. When ponds figgy and heron are all clicking and clark and simon do their things and dixon, trimble and others fill their role look out!!!

The air balled FT and the 2nd FT were after he was hacked on the arm/hand on the breakaway. He grimaced and was holding his hand/wrist before taking those FT's.

I think both Heron and Marvin are spot up shooters. Their value is the 3 ball. Their high turnover level is caused when they
Try to take it to the hoop. Heron appears to be hunting his points. Let the game come to you, Mustapha.

Yup without a doubt it bothered him a bit. Looked like he was shaking his wrist after he got up from the hard foul.

Agree that Mustapha has looked a little out of sync offensively. However, he is not primarily a spot up shooter. In each of his two years with Auburn he averaged between 5 and 6 free throw attempts per game; a key part of his game is taking ball to the basket and getting to the line. Have to think he'll get his offensive mojo back - just going through a bit of a rough patch.
