Cole- found his stroke from 3 again at just the right time.

Duke of Earlington- hes back baby!!!!! He plays better inside out. Once he gets a few garbage buckets, he extends out and starts hitting jays. When he starts out gunning from deep, that is no good.

mcgriff- again real solid minutes. nothing spectacular but hes a spark for us out there when posh needs a blow.

Wusu- a couple nice drives and layups when we really needed points.
Took an ill-advised three late in the game that hit the side of the backboard. Champ bailed him out with the rebound and score.
Was open and was 7-7 before that shot. I didn’t start the possession asking for an ME 3 but I don’t think I’d call it ill-advised either.

Earlington was 7-8 FG and 1-2 3-pt
16 points
5 Reb 1 Asst

He is beginning to contribute again. He still needs to clean up his FG. He shouldn't be missing that many.

Team
FG 47.1% that's not acceptable for BE team.
3-pt 27.8% ouch

41 Reb 20 assists

Very lackadaisical performance in all aspects...the 1st few minutes came so easy to them that they just seemed to think the outcome was a foregone conclusion.

Took them much too long to recognize that they had to keep tabs on the 2 players that did the damage from 3.

What % do you think teams shoot from the field?

Sometimes when you hit the side of the backboard the shot was just a hair off depending on the angle. I used to be the luckiest shooter from the baseline as often my shot would barely tic off the backboard and bank in, wasn't trying to bank it but it is a pretty shot when it goes in.

Off ball help/Rotations Are too slow!!!!

Mike Anderson said St. John's will need Josh Roberts this year. Wants to see him keep working in practice and taking advantage of his opportunities. #sjubb
Zach B

Practice effort a big plus to most HCs. Keep working Josh!

The substitution patterns used by CMA drive me crazy. In the last three games, Coach put in five subs with around 13 minutes left in the first half and, in each case, our opponent went on a big run, wiped out their deficit, took the lead and gave them the confidence that they could actually compete with us. It almost cost us tonight's game.

I understand the need to give the bench guys some playing time in the non conference games. But, if the purpose of these games is to prepare the team for the league season, why play five subs together when that should never happen in a league game unless it's during "garbage time" in a blowout.

When the bench guys play in Big East competition, it will be along side a bunch of starters. So, why not put in one or two subs to play alongside three or four starters and rotate the subs and starters to give the starters the rest that they need and give a few subs some run. At least this way, you keep a ball handler, at least one shooter and a rebounder on the floor at all times and minimize the possibility of our opponent going off on a big run.

Bottom line, you want to give everyone some game experience but you don't want to lose any of these games. We came awfully close to blowing this one. Too close for my taste.

Seton Hall shot FG 53.1% 3-pt 30.4% against Penn State. Final 98-92. They'll be better later in the season. Hopefully the Johnnie's will be better too.
The win is what matters. That loss would’ve been awful for our resume.

Friday is a perfect test for this team. Seton Hall isn’t that good this year after losing Powell, McKnight, and Gil...

But it’s still a big East game and a game you wanna win if you want to establish yourselves as a threat to dance
You might be right, but they are better than us.

He was shooting under 40 % coming in
He can’t miss every shot
He made a couple jumpers today but all of his shots outside of 15 feet are I’ll advised

100%. RIght on point. The same thing seems to happen every game. Start doing pretty well getting warmed up, then suddenly all the worst players come in at the same time. Opponent goes on huge run, we panic, now the opponent thinks they can hang and are rolling by the time our starters are back in. We go on a run of our own and finally squeak it out.

It's nonsense. It's akin to running backwards to get a safety in football. Like you said, this is for when you're up 25 with 5 minutes left or in an exhibition. Our best 5 are our best 5. It's a big dropoff after them. So it's not like there's a chance Toro or Caraher may compete for starting roles. Those days should be over by now. We know the best 5...go with that. It just shoots us in the foot for no reason and changes the trajectory of the game from a potential easy win to a nail biter to the wire.

Mike Anderson said he went to his bench lineup for an extended period to get a spark
