(POST GAME) Rider, Tue. Dec. 8, 7p, CBSSN / 570 AM WMCA

MVP of the game was Greg’s Williams +/-

Take the win. Learn the lesson. Cant play like this come Friday.

The win is what matters. That loss would’ve been awful for our resume.

Friday is a perfect test for this team. Seton Hall isn’t that good this year after losing Powell, McKnight, and Gil...

But it’s still a big East game and a game you wanna win if you want to establish yourselves as a threat to dance

1. It was only right Rider makes another 3 at buzzer effortlessly
2. Rider played the game of their lives and they will now go on to suck in the MAAC
3. CMA has really stupid sub patterns. Big East fanbases will laugh if he pulls starters and puts in 3rd stringers against their teams. He needs to stop with that.
4. Looks like we pegged this as an easy W...by we I mean the players. I was just saying earlier how nice it is that CMA teams don't look past bad teams. Well, we did tonight.
5. I literally had to shut the game off and we went on runs every time I shut it off. Credit Cole but also me.

If u asked mike anderson off the record, he was thrilled how tonight turned out. Blowing out a team by 30 does nothing for your team. Tonight was the best case scenario for this st johns basketball team.

We are not a very good team. Another sloppy win.

Allowing a ton of dribble penetration, improving on ball D a must

I'm getting too old for games this intense. The Johnnie's did just enough to gut out a win. I wish they wouldn't wait until the final few minutes to start shooting a little better.

They got to figure it out and get better PDQ. Or the Johnnie's will get chewed up and spit out in the BE.

We're missing too many bunnies (we've heard that before), not locating open shooters, and losing too many 50/50 balls for my liking.

If you noticed when we had the 3 vets out there(gwill, champy, duke) we settled down and went ahead and won this game. Those guys went through the wars last year. They know what it takes.

I think you will see more of this moving forward especially down the stretch. Those guys should be the core.

Stars of the night:

Cole- found his stroke from 3 again at just the right time.

Duke of Earlington- hes back baby!!!!! He plays better inside out. Once he gets a few garbage buckets, he extends out and starts hitting jays. When he starts out gunning from deep, that is no good.

mcgriff- again real solid minutes. nothing spectacular but hes a spark for us out there when posh needs a blow.

Wusu- a couple nice drives and layups when we really needed points.

We got the good Duke of Earl back tonight (other than the backboard shot!). That lineup with him, Cole, Champ, Posh & Greg is a good one to go with down the stretch of games.

two points about our offense not working:
1) dribbling around the perimeter of the key is not working (Mullin's version of the weave)
2) dribble penetration and not only not kicking it out, but the players not moving to be in position to accept the pass and spot up to shoot....basically standing still instead of creating an angle to receive the pass

Very frustrating watching this offense.

Took an ill-advised three late in the game that hit the side of the backboard. Champ bailed him out with the rebound and score.

I think CMA secretly likes when his team faces adversity like this to see how they respond. He did this exactly same thing at Arkansas which drove us crazy. Against the "cupcake" teams he always empties his bench even if it's close. I think his thought process is his team has such a big advantage in talent, the risk of putting his bench guys in to see how they do in a real game scenario is worth the risk, he figures once he puts his starters back in they'll take care of business, and to his credit they almost always do. If they would have lost this game that would have been on him, that lineup he had in was absolutely terrible.

And on another note, hopefully Dunn gets back later this week and this new guy gets eligible here in a couple weeks and catches on quickly so Toro, Caraher, and Roberts don't see any significant minutes in conference play. Roberts and Toro combined probably lead the nation in missed shots within 3 feet. Toro had a wide open lane and did a spin move in the opposite direction away from the basket for no reason, I've never seen anyone do that before. And Caraher thinks it's a requirement that he throws a rainbow three at the rim every time he checks in. McGriff seems good for maybe 5 minutes a game giving posh a quick break, he brings energy on defense, but he's very limited as well. Need the core guys to step up Friday.

We need Williams on the court. We are a much better team. Couple cheap fouls hurt.
Nice to see Vince Ball out again. He will be important to a successful season
Thought Robert's gave some good minutes, was hoping to see him get a few more in the 2nd
