Does Szczerbiak have kids? The way he was talking about the program, maybe he could steer them towards SJU.

It could start a trend of the offspring of former players from the area who were recruited but did not come here. Try anything, because we have struck out with every former player's son.
He's got a bunch I think 2 out of the 5 boys but they are living with his wife now

I knew Wally's mom and dad, and his sister, who played AAU with my daughter for a couple of seasons.   By any measure they are a great family who raised smart, well mannered, good kids.   At that time, Wally just had his first kid, and in the off season from Minnesota, was living with his wife in the finished attic of his family's Cold Spring Harbor home.   I believe he built a home in Manhasset.    His oldest would have to be about 16 by now, and I think he has 5 kids.    His sister was all Long Island in basketball, and I believe a knee injury derailed her career at Lehigh.   His brother didn't play much basketball and worked at Bain Capital.  Wally signed his first big contract, and when he did, paid his brother's tuition at Georgetown.  Typically nice stuff that comes from that family.

I know you were joking, but Wally has been to a number of our games over the years.   He'd sit on the aisle near where Looie sits at CA, and draped one leg down a couple of steps in the aisle.

As a teenager, Wally would play weekend basketball with his dad in a group that included Alan Seiden.   We could do much worse, and not much better, than to have the Szczerbiaks as part of our program.

Our first home-and-home sweep of the Friars since 2015, but they went on to beat us that year in the BET.  Before that, you have to go back to 1999.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

...........They almost always beat us in the BET, at least in the last 12 years or so........(sadly sat there and watched more than once....)

I didn't read the game thread, but I imagine it's a lot of pages about how we suck, all of the players suck, and Anderson should be fired followed by a bunch of pages about how we are great, the players are great, and Anderson is a genius.  Just a hunch.

Anyway I thought the bottom line of the game is that it took the team a half to adjust to playing without Posh and to shake off a long-ish layoff.  Then in the second half they played their game and since they are better than Providence and Anderson is as good a coach if not better than Cooley, the outcome landed where it should have.

I know that Dunn played his @ss off in the second half, but to me the difference maker was Greg (at this point I am taking the energy and production that Moore brings as a given).  He gives the team a dimension on offense that it sorely needs - a third scorer who can create for himself, shoot, or get to the rim.

In my opinion the problem for Cole is that he's trying to play the game like Greg.  Instead, he should almost never put the ball on the floor and just take his open shots.

Our guards outside of Williams still struggle to stop the dribble, but we did a much better job on Watson in the second half.

That is the frustrating part.  He has not yet shown he can do that on a consistent game in and game out basis.  The game turned yesterday when  he made 2 great plays on offense in a row, on the dunk and then the 3 pointer.  I'd love to see that energy and aggression every game, not every other or every 3.  He seems to defer to others too often.  He seems to have the tools, but let's see him put it all together on a consistent basis.  As a junior, that should be a given at this poiint.  Fortunately, he did that in the second half yesterday.  I am rootng for him, because it makes us so much better.  It sees like a head and fire in the belly thing, not a talent thing.

Glad the Crime Dog got some burn.  Man is he quick.

I have been beating the drum for McGriff since they signed him.  I don't know why Coach has not been able to find minutes for the kid.  He's fast as hell, has a tremendous handle, great court vision, and plays tough D for his size.  I haven't seen any evidence that he can shoot or score, but he's the kind of player who makes everyone around him better.  You better have your head up and be ready when he's on the floor, because he will find you with the pass.

No question that Greg's challenge is that he has to BELIEVE he is a great player.  Julian has the same obstacle (too unselfish), but you can see him starting to move past that now.  Greg will get there.

Why did this video bring me so much joy?  Ed Cooley is so annoying.

His analysis of the second half, where he blamed it all on their ineptitude, especially on defense, is horseshit./media/kunena/emoticons/cheerful.png

We saw what a healthy Williams means to this team last night .  He asserted himself when it was necessary . Dunn had a great 2 Nd half but.a OMG first half . He's that kind of player . Observing that doesn't make a poster a bad fan . Dunn had to be both , SG and PG last night . It's a difficult role and last night he filled it up . He's not a natural distributor of the ball and at times , calls his own number too frequently . Especially with the shot clock winding down . But , I think we can all take his highs with his lows . CMA Seems  determined to make WUSU a inbounder but, I reserve judgment in that .

It is nice to see with healthy Greg and skilled hybrid type improved Moore, we have two more game changing potential guys to complement Posh, Julian and Dunn. Throw in a under control, know your role Earlington, streaky, but sometimes effective, Cole & Wusu,  the main rotation of eight is pretty good. The obvious interior size void  is what it is and hopefully will be improved next season.

Impossible to predict roster composition in transfer manic world, but our base looks promising going forward, with a high quality, versatile kid perhaps in Pinzon on the way. Drissa should also in time be one of this overachieving, blue collar bigs we have enjoyed through the years.

His shot selection in times he has got burn has been more than questionable IMO. Of course not easy to be comfortable playing such limited minutes.

Earlington certainly capable of changing direction of a game. Good or bad

Annoying part about our games being on CBS, you can rarely find highlights or replays. Can't even find highlights anywhere.

Room 112.
I had the same problem with CBS.

I wonder if he's offered to provide some spiritual guidance to Cooley. ;-)

Like I said, I've seen no evidence that he can shoot or score.  I hope he can.  But I can't dispute that we've seen no evidence of it yet.  It would be a shame - he appears to be a terrific ballhandler and passer.  I love a pass-first point guard, even though they've mostly gone out of style.
