(POST GAME) (MSG) DePaul, Sat. Jan. 11, Noon, FSN (YES) / 970 WNYM
side note the long island railroad sucks. Pretty much trains weren't running on the huntington line because of track work somewhere west of mineola. Without some pain in the ass rerouting making the train ride longer than the orient express so I had to drive in.

I think it's going on next saturday too so going to have to dive to port washington or something and take different train
Port Washington line was fine yesterday as I had to reroute to it as well.
Someone mentioned how many assists Dunn could have if our bigs could make a gimme. How so? He'd have to pass the ball first, no? Two times on the same possession he has Earlington standing 5 feet from him, with only one defender back, and he insists on taking in himself! Why? Hate to rip on him after the game he had, but he's a selfish player. One time he got in the air under the basket with nowhere to go and decided to just fall out of bounds rather than trying to pass it toward a teammate.
27 fouls called in the second half. 27

I agree he should have given the ball to Duke on the two and one but like many others said he has a scorers mentality and that may take some time. With the way this team misses layups an extra pass doesn’t always help anyway.

SJU is so offensively challenged with poor outside shooting, terrible three point shooting and a non existent inside game that Dunn and LJ make moves to the basket that are obviously forced but what else can this offense do.
Without Dunn on Sat. It would have been a struggle for SJU to score fifty. Who else except LJ can create a shot?

Who is the guy behind Rutledge and to Moses’s left. Thanks in advance
Thinking Tux was asking about the guy between (behind) Mahoney and Hamilton.
Probably got in the pic by accident.

No I didn’t recognize Lamont Middleton. LOL and I thought Sealy was Mike Moses. Looks just like him

From left to right, Ron Rutledge, Lamont Middleton, Coach Carnesecca, Brian, Mahoney, Shawnelle Scott, Amir Sealey (Malik's Brother), and Edwin Searcy. The highlight of the afternoon was Ed Searcy showing off the NBA Championship ring he received as a member of the Boston Celtics.

Very nice win!

Continuing the CA vs MSG debate from previous years, this year in major games we are:
0-2 at CA (#100 Vermont, #3 Butler- avg #52 NET)
2-0 at MSG (#11 WVU, #73 DePaul- avg #42 NET)

We have loads of MSG upsets in recent years including WVU this year and Nova/Duke/Syracuse during the Mullin years.

Last year we lost to DePaul by 8 at CA (and by 9 @ DePaul), but then beat them by 8 at MSG during the BET. Without that final MSG win we never would've made the Dance. The previous year we lost to DePaul by 17 @ MSG.

More MSG games, please.

Made my Saturday to watch Johnnies beat DePaul...I had been suffering a "Deja Vu" thinking back to last year's 12 - 0 start...Seton Hall "bad calls" = 1st conference game & loss...then all downhill from there...losing 3 in a row had me worried big-time! Putting Heron at 4th position seems to work nicely, get him back into the flow! Beat Providence is the next Order of Business! Go Johnnies!!!

Much needed win.

I don't want to take away from some decent performances, but DePaul looked pretty bad yesterday. At times this year, they have played much better.

The attendance was announced at 6,636. I know it's DePaul at noon, but at that number you might as well host at Carnesecca. I would imagine this is an issue Cragg is looking at and, hopefully, we will see some measures designed to fill MSG seats for the remainder of this year.

I cut through New Hyde Park on Monday to visit my aunt before flying back home, and it looked like there was a bunch of construction nonsense going on there. That would definitely affect Mineola, etc. if something is going on there.
Can we lock Marcellus in a gym with Bernard King and Charles Barkley over the summer?
Id like to see the duke drop 10lbs to increase his quickness and get a little more hops. Ive seen videos w/ his trainer and he is getting tons of mid range and 3s up. Its just not translating in a game yet. Hopefully that will come next year.

Is it true the Duke can catch a fly with chopsticks? Also heard he can juggle 9 basketballs for an hour.

To me, Earlington's strength and energy are his two main strengths, no pun intended. Do not want to see him take off weight. Agree that he needs to work on his shot a lot, but love the rest of his game as is.

I could be wrong but he is Ron G who is a big supporter. Sterling can verify and I don’t want to print his last name.

That is Ron G, who was a manager while a student and now heads the Basketball Alumni. He organizes the Mass for Coach Carnesecca every year among other things.

Shawnelle Scott looks like he hasn't aged a day.

And kudos to anyone who can ID Lamont Middleton sans headband.

Agree Andrew. But in defense of Earl he may be the best finisher around the rim that we have.

Only was able to watch the first 10 minutes, but followed on my phone. Great move by coach starting Heron up front; just what he needed to get untracked.
Suspect Williams is going to keep getting better and more confident with his shot and getting plenty of minutes the rest of the year. If Roberts continues to play soft, Champagnie may get some of his minutes at the five spot. Bench was solid, giving us 25 points to Depaul's 17. Nice to see Caraher hit a couple of outside shots.

On to Providence!
Thanks.
Was visiting my 94 year old mom at Veterans Home in St Albans - no TV or radio so appreciate all of your posts ! Thank you - I’d have been lost without this site
Any W is great, of course,
But my take,
we are an “ okay “ team in a league replete with better than “ okay “ teams.
Our kids hustle and care, which is commendable, but - no great revelation I realize - the talent level is not there.

all the best...
Go Storm !!!
Wish I knew you were in my neighborhood, I live two blocks from the Veterans Hospital.
