(POST GAME) (MSG) Connecticut, Sun., Feb. 13, 12 Noon, FOX

Very fair to call this season a disappointment, but let's not call this game anything but what it was - a hard fought typical Big East basketball game which was a hell of a watch even though our guys lost.

Clearly UConn had better athletes, players but the game was still winnable. Sound familiar?

Blame the players all you want and certainly Champ came up small at the end BUT….. When the Johnnies were up 7 and then had one bad POSSESSION after another, here’s where coaching comes in……TAKE A TIME OUT , run a play to stem the tide and break the momentum?….. never happened, so a 9 point swing ensued. But the Anderson defenders will blame…. The refs, the foul shooting, the bad play of some players etc.

We miss so many good looks. Dunks, Layups, Jumpers, free throws it doesn’t matter. Coaching absolutely did not lose us this game.

13-49 from the Champ, wheeler, Smith, and coburn. 7-13 from the line.

Yes and no.

Yes, cannot blame the coach for missed layups and FTs.

No, the coach is the one who put this team together that cannot score and defend the three.

Disagree with you on that. Coaching had a hand in the loss.

We can’t get bad at the team, they always play hard and up to their ability
Problem is talent across the-team is not there, that’s on the coach and staff
yr came down to we didn’t recruit as good as the other teams
evaluation of talent needs to be better that’s also on coach  and staff
Was unable to see the game but heard we were out of time outs  when we really needed one
enjoy the rest of the games to be played and lower expectations
we-are what we are
hopecoa h and staff do a better job next yr

They defended Wheeler well, his 5/18 shooting was for most part out of sync with only few good looks

Champ actually had a double double but no one noticed.
I appreciate his rebounding today, but 13 points, 6-16 from the field, missing a key front end of a 1-and-1. Once again if he just scores his average it would have been enough. These are the type of games you need your all-conference player to step up.
He did the same in losses at home to SH, PC, Nova, and now UConn.

Winning this game would’ve changed my outlook on this season a good amount just off the satisfaction of handing UCONN an L.

With that said I can’t fathom any worse late game execution. For the life of me can we get one player on the block and play inside-out? EVERYTHING is on the perimeter with this team.

Another fucking  brutal loss ( I’ll gladly accept a week banning because this game deserves the F bomb )

Disagree, anything but a win against a team that lost three of its last 4 a disappointment  .

If you want to say the team he assembled is not good enough have at it. It’s flawed. I think they’re a few breaks away from being where they should have been. Not making excuses. I’m as disappointed as anyone. Just not as surprised I guess.

Great games by Mathis and Wusu. Each of Champ and Wheeler could have been much better, and that was it. Nothing else from anyone else on the team. We really held Sonoga below his season stats but missed free throws amongst others did us in today. So frustrating as a fan.
oh well looking forward to next season as it seems we have 8th place all wrapped up this season.
mas Paultz said before the game Uconn defends every possession and they certainly did against us when it counted most at the very end.

I agree but thought he missed a few good looks.  Would have been nice to get something out of Coburn.  Winnable game and tough loss

Disappointing season.  There are at least 4 should have been wins including this one if we shot mid 70s in foul shooting, OR shot slightly better (not great) from  2 OR 3,OR played better 3 point defense, OR. Hit a few more bunnies.   We’re half step short.  Game was a microcosm of season.

Same song, different verse… we give a great effort but we make mistakes at key times.  We find ways to lose the close ones.

Champ is a good player, but when he’s not hitting from outside (which has been most of the time lately) then we see how limited he is.  Not a great handle, mediocre hands and no explosiveness off the dribble.

To not get the Ball in Mathis hands down the stretch of this game is puzzling . CMA gave  the ball to Wusu for the inevitable block .  Mathis was on fire . We needed a hoop badly .   Case closed  Champ missing the 1 and1 down the stretch was the ballgame . Wheelers late 3 only prolonged the misery .    It was a terrible call on Mathis . Cole pushed off with his elbow and then fell which was a walk ., Final Play was disorganized and a prayer 3 wasn’t close . There was plenty of time to get a better shot but we didn’t .,.
