The best stats from today's game are that we shot 51.7% from the field and had 22 assists on 30 field goals made (73.3%). 5 guys were in double figures. Lots of guys contributed today. A great team effort.

If we can do that every game, we'll always be in the thick of it.

Nice win!!! Let's keep the momentum going against Creighton

Also, 21-29 from the foul line, which is 72.4%, and 2 of those misses were by Wusu in the final minute, long after the outcome had been decided.

Also a 29-18 advantage in free throws attempted, which was a welcome change from recent games.

Lastly, a plus-11 turnover difference (21-10).  That's key for us.  I'd rather have a game where we turn it over 12 or 13 times, compared to 20 for our opponent, then a game where both teams are in the 8-10 range.

It helps when the other team cant play defense and stinks

I admit I wasn't watching so closely, but Mutombo's son seemed to be hurting us in the 1st half.   At 7'2" he definitely has more skills than his dad, but is a lot softer inside at this point.   He hardly seemed to play in the 2nd half.   Any opinions?

A crowd of five thousand at MSG doesn’t produce an exciting atmosphere but considering the match up of mediocre teams, COVID still running rampant and the NFL playing playoff football it wasn’t that bad.
SJU should avoid playing games at MSG on NFL playoff days.
I'm sure NFL had something to do with it but  definitely Covid like you mentioned I think was big too. I couldnt find 1 taker for my tickets. No-one wanted to take a chance with covid just yet

Believe it or not, it didn't feel like a horribly small crowd.   I have eaten a lot of tickets this season because of Covid.   It seems that there are more people and families sick with Covid than at any time in the past - nearly all vaccinated also.

(Sorry if this question has previously been asked in this thread)

Jordan Riley, who broke the hearts of many St. John’s fans when he selected Georgetown over the Johnnies did not play yesterday.  The G’town website says he has played in 9 games this season, with     35.5% field goal percent, and a 10% percentage from 3 point land.

Is Mr.Riley injured ?

A big positive was that I did think Posh, Wusu and Mathis were MUCH more selective in their forays into the land of the the trees.  After the block party at UConn I assume there was a message delivered and received about all the drives with little chance of success with a lot of big bodies around.  Going into this game I was concerned with the Georgetown height giving us similar problems if we continued to drive into the teeth of it but it seems like a lesson was learned from the UConn game.

The big difference was Posh playing with the ball and orchestrating,  which proved mutually beneficial to both he and Dylan. Fine to go off the ball once in a while depending on matchups, but since Posh is our only true PG (Pinzon in time will hopefully help there), I much prefer he man the point. Dylan can still makes plays for others from the wing as indicated by his assists Sunday.

IDK Paultz, Wusu still equaled his assists in less minutes. I don’t think their roles changed much or if posh was on the ball any more than usual. I think the 4-5 from 3 makes everything look a little better than normal. Of course, maybe the 4-5 is a direct result of Posh setting up Dylan, so to your point, that could also be the case
and could help both.

Posh 10 FT attempts and no 3s tells me he didn’t let the uconn game deter him from attacking. Hopefully he continues to live in the paint.

Good points, but re Dylan, I just felt he had less pressure on him setting up from top of key which helped him not force things. His passing is quite good for most part but can still do that not being as much a PG as he had in previous several games. Anderson implied that getting Posh in orchestrating position primarily was a plus v GT. Of course I value both guys but I thought Posh was confidently in command which is my preference.
