(POST GAME) Georgetown, Sun., Jan. 16, 4:30p, FOX

With three of next four on the road v good teams, let’s grab the first one at Creighton to give the team confidence with Seton Hall and Nova in that road mix and another SH one at home. Creighton always has a big and enthusiastic fan presence, but time to get one.

Wusu...

4-5 from 3pt...now at 43.6% on season

Wusu was great today. Nice all around stats. I don’t think Champ made any 3s today. Like the fact that Mathis is limiting his 3 pt attempts not his game. Nice team effort.
Any word on Poshs foot?

What a game for Posh - 17 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 6 steals and only 1 turnover. That's doing it all.

And the one turnover was a pass that Champagnie could have handled.  Great game for Posh!

Fun game.  2-2 in conference.  Let’s build on this!!!

With the 2 losses winnable games down the stretch. That's better than expected based on the non-con games.

Only thing disappointing about today was a crowd of just over 5,000.  Likely caused alot by people's caution to avoid crowds and nfl playoff game watching.

I noticed Coburn passed on two open look 3's; I wish he would've taken them.  And I agree with the observation that Smith should have launched a few more than the 3 shots or so he put up. I too wonder if the game was a function of how bad georgetown may be, or that we played well, to a man.

Also, he shot 4-4 from the field, and 9-10 from the line.

IMO a combination of the two things. Fact is, we took care of business against a team we were supposed to handle easily. That, in and of itself, shows improvement over  earlier in the season. Hopefully we use this game a a building block.

This was not a game to be ecstatic about.  We had to beat Georgetown today to avoid a deep hole and our guys took care of business.  Now the real work begins over the next 4 games.

It will be a tall order to win 2 of the 4.  The home game against SHU is very important, almost huge if we don't beat creighton this week.

Wheeler hit the floor on 2 consecutive plays to go after loose balls.   in those moments with Georgetown bearing down they were big plays.

We have to realize Wheeler is a 3, and plays like a 3.  He can put the ball on the floor, make threes, and is active around the rim.  However if you expect him to get 6 rebounds you will be disappointed.  I said this before this littke run of games - he is more skilled than any forward we lost.   He won't average 10 ppg but he does a lot of nice things and is a player.

Stanley getting a chance to get major minutes as a little big man.    CMA is coaxing productivity out of him.

wusu minus correctable mistakes is one heck of a player.    Just ask georgetown.

Good game.  We are getting better.  We are fortunate to have had canceled games.  This team may be ready to hit Broadway.  I've been stubborn.  Im sticking with 10 or 11 conference wins with 9 the low water mark.

Crowd was spread out across the arena.   It didn't feel like 5k

Unfortunately Beast, 9 or 10 wins still doesn’t get us in the tournament with our OOC schedule and the loss to Pitt. We need at least 11 in conference wins plus at least 1 in the BET to have a shot at the NCAA’s.

Agreed. I'm just going based on what I've seen, and faith that CMA teams improve over the season. 10 or 11 wins put you on the bubble, with 11 probably getting a bid. 9 probably gets you to the nit.

Mase does a great job with his recaps though.  Appreciate them too.

Mean ,what’s  up with Colburn ,didn’t play much.Thought he was going to be the answer to our deep shooting

A crowd of five thousand at MSG doesn’t produce an exciting atmosphere but considering the match up of mediocre teams, COVID still running rampant and the NFL playing playoff football it wasn’t that bad.
SJU should avoid playing games at MSG on NFL playoff days.
