Not that it would be a game changer, but when will Williams consistently step out of his shell offensively and get a little selfish? It will help the team vs. the others who are not as good offensively who are not shy.

Back to back awful starts for CMA in conference play. We all know we are headed for 1-4 or 1-5 again. 3rd time a charm next yr? Or more of same?

If you took a pinch of Dunn's blood, and put it into Williams, you would have two terrific basketball players, IMO.

I dunno. I don’t see it happening at this point. Much like D’Lo, a player often needs to just have that demeanor. Right now, besides Champs, we don’t have any guys who really want the ball to score. There’s a reluctance there. It’s not good for us and speaks to both talent and demeanor of our overall team. Need some more killers.
 
I can't recall which of the wise posters here used this line, but it really sums things up right now: we're a year away from being a year away.

We have some good building blocks. Posh will continue to improve. Williams will improve. Champagne will get better. Add a key piece or two next season and, well, we'll be a year away...

On the second-to-last possession, Anderson said he wanted something going towards basket. Play ended up with a long Vince Cole contested 3. #sjubb

So much to get to in that game. But this is the bottom line: St. John's allowed the projected worst team in the league to score 97 points and shoot 54 percent from the field.

On second comment I agree 100%

Again some questionable substitutions in the second half. With Cole playing nervous and clueless it would have been wise to put a banger like Marcellus in the game.
In this loss it was the horrible offensive game by JC and VC that cost us the game. Combined they shot 22 percent on 4-18 shooting. Cole completely lost his mojo and his handle and his defense need major improvements. Champagnie looked listless and needs some of his brother's aggressiveness. He played at his true height of 6'6 tonight and, like Cole, has a poor handle. They are a stark contrast to the 6'11 Mamu who handled the ball like a guard the other night.
Disappointed that coach Anderson could not get his guards to control the offense better.
This is yet another game that looked like a scrimmage with minimal direction from the bench.

I agree with this. I can’t speak for others but I have to admit with the way we ended things in March and with the JC guys we brought in, this is still pretty disappointing. But, you are right. Just blows, still losing games like this.

Champ & Greg are the least of our problems; the rest of the team is our problem. CMA really needs to take a long look at program; team does not look like a bunch of positive winners at this point, but more like Norm Roberts days. VERY DEPRESSING.

yup. But he has Earlington burying shots in the 1st half and doesnt play him in the 2nd half and OT. Pathetic.

Anderson said this all the time last year, after close losses (that it wasn't the play he wanted). So either:

1. His message is not getting across late in games

or:

2. He's covering his butt for lack of late-game execusion.

I lean towards #1, but there has to be a way to clear this up. You don't have the percentage of bad possessions that we do late in games, and not have it just be coincidence. And if it were just bad players, then it would be like Mullin's first year, where we are getting blown out almost every night.

Personally, I think the years of losing has put a lot of undue pressure on the freshman class that comes in every year to be great. Then, when they stumble a couple of times early (inevitable for all but the best of the best freshman), they start to feel the pressure, and it snowballs.

It’s not up for debate. Coaching is the problem. When you have a pitcher who only throws 99 mph fastballs, eventually they’re going to get shelled.

This system is very effective in spurts but not throughout the course of a game. And the coach is unwilling to come off it.

When the games come to a grind in the waning minutes we throw the ball away or get absolutely terrible looks in the half court.

Also our D flat out sucks. This is all coaching and basketball IQ of your players. Very deficient in both areas

Overreacting? We’re 0-2 and lost to arguably the worst team in the conference. At what juncture would it be appropriate for us to react in your opinion?
 
This is not a B.E. caliber program any longer. We can't play at this level with wide eyed transfers, over matched 3 star recruits, and an occasional player destined to transfer.
 
Not going to name anyone specifically but there are certain players who should never see the floor.

One in particular was trying to set a baseline screen and absolutely leveled his own teammate in the 2nd half. It was as funny as it was sad to see.
