(POST GAME) @Georgetown, Sun., Dec. 13, 7:30p, FS-1 / 970 AM WNYM
I hope Cuffe wasn't watching this game.
If he's actually coming here, which I doubt he does, tonight's game isn't gonna change his mind.

We claim to be a defensive team yet have 3 guys on the court for most of the game(cole, moore and champy) that cant guard anyone.

We handed this game to Georgetown like a gift. After coming out of the timeout, up 7 with 2 1/2 minutes left, we couldn't possibly have done more to help them win. To me, the issue is inexperience. I am excited about Posh, but he is a freshman PG making a lot of mistakes out there. The bad foul, the missed free throw, and forcing a shot in the lane while Champagnie was all alone at the 3-point stripe. Posh was unwittingly gifting the game to our opponent. Not a knock......very few freshman who can step-in and start at PG on a Big East team. He will learn.

Two more points:

1.) Somebody needs to tell Rasheem Dunn that it doesn't matter if you get to the rim, unless you finish or draw the foul. He shot 2 for 9 and I honestly think he was 2-3 on jump shots and 0-6 on layups.

2.) Sloppy, sloppy play. Creating turnovers doesn't matter if you just give the ball right back.

We will get better and win some conference games, but we have a lot of growing to do.

Bottom line 40 min of hell doesn't work and CMA cannot get the talent we would need to have a real chance anyway. The game is about 3 pt shooting and at least 1 true monster big now. We have neither.

I reiterate, we are an equal opportunity poor defensive team.

Inexperience does not help, but at what point will we be so experienced at losing, that experience won't be a factor on the good side? We're getting dangerously close to that, IMO.

Just absolutely clueless by coach anderson. It was criminal and it cost us the game.
Agree. Earlington, who looked good, played 13 minutes scoring 10 points while Cole shot 1 for 7 in 32 minutes. Poor coaching decision as far as I am concerned.
This is outrageous. If Earlington played 32 minutes, hed of had 25 points and we would have won this game easily in regulation. its like coach didnt want to win this game.
Agree that Earlington should have played more but we lost this game for many reasons.
Mamu is not even remotely a post man and we play poor defense across the board. We provide equal opportunity “opportunities” to all opposition players.
I told someone tonight that we've done enough offensively to win games. Defensively is a whole different story! Terrible.

So from here on out I’m looking for improvement by the coach as well as the players. Champ looked exhausted down the stretch-played 38 of 45 minutes. Williams played 40 minutes. Poor player management in addition to game generalship. Time to look in the mirror and fix this, or the year is lost.

Pinzon better be a monster right away, because at this rate I can see some of our more talented kids transferring. Who would want to be part of a system that doesn't work?
Beating dead horse but 1-10 in BE play on road a problem. Sloppy effort & should have closed this one out. Creighton up next
Very sloppy. Energy was there but too many absent minded passes when they could have added to leads. Game that we should have won and let get away.

Also, they need to do loose ball drills. They are never on the ground.

This loss was 100% on Mike Anderson

We've played 8 games against mostly mediocre competition. Only 2 of those games we put away before the final 30 seconds of play. This is what the team is.

But it's when he does take these guys out, that the other team gets momentum back, and in a hurry, too.

He's going to need to dial back the pressure a bit. Maybe some halfcourt traps, instead of 94 feet all the time. Also, some zone if the guys are a bit fatigued, just to catch their breaths (I generally don't like those kinds of defenses, but he may have to do it with this group).

I’m not going to sleep very well tonight.

Could be wrong, but I think I remember reading that this is exactly what CMA did at Ark on their forums. That they were always finding ways to lose and choke in crunch time. This program is officially used to losing. Lavin started turning us around and we are the new DePaul. Life comes at you FAST.

And that is the inherent problem with this program. We put so much pressure on the newcomers to be great, that when they stumble even a bit early, we start complaining, and it tightens the player, and the team, up.

On the flip side, if Pinzon is a good as you want him to be, he's probably not here very long either, and what good is that (unless we make a final four)?
