Flew out to Chicago for the weekend and went to the game. What an awesome arena they have there. Good bounceback game from the squad we kept our composure during their little run. Fun game.

Thanks for the posts
It’s a W, always nice
And
Our Coach MA coaches well
His players play hard
Maybe a few more Ws in 2020
The future is bright!

Fascinating game when compared to our game versus them at the Garden. At MSG, heron/LJ had 24 combined; today 48. At the garden we shoot 25/62; today 25/60. Today Depaul--20/65; at MSG--24/50. Thought our defense really stepped up today. Even though we had less steals, we cut down Depaul's assists; thus they were taking more difficult shots. We also cut the rebound edge from first game with 3 guys boxing out and Dunn coming underneath. Loved coach in the huddle stressing defense/rebounding saying if you can't get it knock it out of bounds.

Noticed no Steere, but Damien got 11 minutes and did not embarrass. He set some picks and one I was following, after picking he rolled low drawing in the wing defender for an open look/score from the corner.

Glad for the team and the coaches to get one. Will enjoy this for a while before thinking ahead. Cheers!

SJU because of the intensity of the defense. DePaul because they have a decent point guard and good muscle and height inside.
Both teams showed today they have episodic periods of high caliber performance and then display poor choices on offense, dumb fouls, a rash of turnovers and seemingly lose concentration and confidence.
So I do think we are not as talented overall as most. I get frustrated with the horrific shooting and mistakes.. At the same time, I also sense we could have easily picked up a few additional wins and been right there with the mid-level grouping of the Big East.
At today's level of play, we would likely have lost to Villanova and Butler; but we would have been right in the game vs the rest. At least, the games are exciting this year.
I think both of these teams would have finished much higher, had they been playing in last year's Big East.

Moore and Reed are good, but they weren't on the team last year, and most of our guys are new, and/or they didn't play much last year.

The league this year, has more returning talent then in any year in recent memory. This was never the year to be starting over with a lot of new parts, no matter how talented they may be.
Reed has been with DePaul each year he's been in college, which this being his junior season.
I stand corrected on that, but I don't think he played much. I never heard of him until this year. Calling him experienced, is like calling Roberts experienced.

Good win, happy for the team and CMA. I particularly liked seeing Champaigne being more assertive.

One undeniable is that we need LJ and Heron to shoot as well as they did today. We really have no inside game at all. It is a struggle just to get touches in the paint. I believe that is why we are hearing about the staff's interest in some power forward and center types.

Regardless......this one felt good. Looking forward to taking a stab at Nova.

Reed was a consistent presence last year. Averaged 27 minutes, 12.3 pts, 8.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks

I'm glad the Johnnies got their first road win. There's still time to win a few at home and earn an invitation to the NIT.

Coach Anderson is doing a good job in a very strong conference.
I like the idea of playing our best players more. Nice to see LJ and Heron both have big games. We shot well and thought Dunn was much more in control and took better shots. A nice road win. And although it was against DePaul, they are not a bad team
. Figgy and Heron combined for 48, easily exceeding their minimum goal of 35 per game . Dunn had a good game , more under control and didn’t take 15 shots . Champagne had a good game . A few poor passes in the first half but , he played good minutes in the second half .. it’s difficult to score enough but , having Heron and figgy score as a tandem makes us a better team . DePaul seems to have regressed from their pre season record . Reed and Moore are good players . Weems , despite his rep didn’t impress nor did Williams get many minutes . You have to feel for Leitao , year in
and year out the Blue Demons just can’t do it and compete . Maybe the Vincentian schools ought to find out what the Jesuits , Augustinians and Dominicans know that we don’t ? Maybe we all have to Pray harder .

Well, then I totally dropped the ball WRT him, but it must a been a quiet 12 and 8, because I never recall him being identified as a guy who could beat you, until this year, and I'm the type of guy who usually worries about the 10th man in a 9-man rotation having a big game against us.

Probably because the board couldn't get past Mullin not showing up for Femi Olujobi's campus visit and lighting us up along with Struss.

Reed has NBA potential and could see him getting drafted this year.

Very good win, especially since we got stronger down the stretch rather than folding (altough at one point it got too close for comfort). Again, very good win, but once again I needed a Xanax and an occasional changing of channels to get through it. Love what CMA is doing, but this is not an easy team to watch.

Glad you were right, I didn't see any road wins in the B.E. this year, glad to be wrong.

Gotta get atleast 3 more wins, hopefully many more.

I'm thrilled, the guys hit some jump shots!!!! Ken Pom has SJU up to 68. SJU has a long way to go (10 or 15 spots) before they jump Gtown. Note...it's early Saturday evening, so all of the scores are most likely not included in Ken's algorithm. I'll have another wine and enjoy the progress SJU has made since last year.

Beat Georgetown next Sunday.
Payback is a mother.

Earlington only played 10 mins, 1rebound,1 assist, 2 points.

CMA stuck with the starting lineup. They were shooting well and there wasn't any need to make a change.

Will FS1 replay this game? I left to run errands with my wife at half time. Got back and caught the final 7 mins of the game. I missed DePaul's comeback and the close score got me worried. LJ & Heron were shooting well and I saw them restore the lead.

This was really a great win. The team has been playing with such effort without much to show for it so this win comes at just the right time. To win a game taking thirty two threes stuns me but if they can make forty per cent of their three point attempts they can beat any big east team.
The big east is so balanced SJU will probably be less an underdog vs Vill on Tues. then they were today. A win could really turn this season around.

Best game of the season so far for the Heron and Figueroa tandem. When they click together in the same game every remaining game is winnable. 13 wins. 2 Big East wins and 10 more games to go before the Big East tournament. I firmly believe we can win 5 of the last 10 games if we start getting some contributions from the bench. Today we shared the ball and equaled a taller DePaul team on the boards. I remember Rasheem Dunn was an excellent rebounding guard while at Jefferson and his nose for the ball was evident today. This was a very good win considering we got minimal production from our bigs, especially our non playing Big who was supposed to start from day one over Roberts.

Replays at 2 AM/ET on MSG, and 3 AM/ ET on FS1.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but it was nice to see Justin Simon out at the game today. He was saying hello to staffers and fans at halftime.
