Figueroa just has a monster basketball IQ. You can see him clapping for Simon to get him the ball when he's open...almost angrily motioning to demand ally-oops. He just sees it so much earlier...like Ponds.

I think we've only seen a fraction of his offensive rebounding potential.
Our second best player IMO!

At this point, I’m not convinced it’s even close.

Agree. I suppose I would put Clarke third based on his shooting, size & bulk.

saw it asked on the gametime thread, but didnt see an answer. Caharer and Steere have been on the bench the past couple games that ive noticed, but havent see Wright.

Anyone know if something is up? or do sit-out transfers get some reprieve during the school break

Thanks. Start of second half minutes away. Now that I know the outcome, I can sit back and relax and watch the game sans the Xanax.
Sounds like a lot of positives came out of the game. Most importantly from a moderator perspective it means the board will be a bit more jovial until the next loss :)
Heh?!? 'Loss'?!!? What 'loss'?!!? Lol.

Rewatching the game on MSG and I have to give credit where credit is due, Heron kept us a good 5-8 points in front for the majority of the 2nd half before we opened it up.

He needs to be on the block and around the paint in general more often. He fought through double teams and really used the glass well. If teams start recognizing that, that will open up the key for him.
The play that really tells you about Figgy happened late in the game. SJU scores, Ponds steals the inbounds, but the camera shows Figgy wide open begging for the ball. Instead, Ponds hoists up an ill advised 3. Instead of pouting, Figgy breaks to the basket, gets the offensive rebound, and puts it back for the score.
Excellent observation. Nice point. Describes him well.

He and Simon need to do more damage on the blocks. They are different players inside 10-12 feet. Heron finishes so strong and with a ton of skill.

Watching Simon, you could see why he was a 5 star HS player who struggled to find minutes early on. He has 5 star athleticism which consistently gets him to the spot on the floor he wants, but has 3 star shot making ability, even with 5 feet of the basket. He should be shooting in the mid 60 percent range based on how open he is for 3 point attempts, and how close he gets to the basket with pretty open looks.

I agree that Heron is strong inside, but to me at least, it was much more a matter of getting untracked. After 10 points or so, you could see his confidence had really grown and he just was beaming, and looking to wreck Creighton on offense. Second half belonged to him and he was the difference in the game.

If he starts playing at a level I believe he is capable of, watch out.

Funny, when all the starters are engaged they play better on both offense and defense. Each part of their games gets raised and the flow seems better.

The thing about Heron that I like the most (within 10 feet of the basket, at least) is his footwork. That’s what I noticed. As a guy who played the 4 or 5 my teenage years, I appreciate that. His hands aren’t quite as quick as his feet, but if he can get the ball in his hands at that distance, he’s gonna put the ball in the hoop 90% of the time, because of his strength.

He doesn’t seem to have the same confidence in his footwork at the key. That’s the difference to me, at least.

On the perimeter he is a half step slow on his first step, he needs to go more downhill on his first step and his handle needs be tighter to his body. All of these items can be improved. Power and strength do not really help on the perimeter you need a combination of quickness and proper angles/momentum.
