(POST-GAME) Creighton, Wed. Jan. 16, 6:30p, FS-1 / 970AM
I am at a meeting and did not watch one second of the game.

Did Ponds play in the Creighton game ?
Yes and played a very solid game per Ponds standards!!!!

We dodged a bullet, 50-50 balls were 20-80 tonight.
First half Simon and Keita were shooting way too much (credit McDermott for leaving them wide open).

I thought Heron played well...I don't get the negativity. I LOVE him posting down low.
Yeah he runs into problems when he starts to far out as his handle is a little shaky
You think Heron's handle is shaky, but love Simon? Are you kidding...you're going to give me a seizure.
You serious right now????
Simon sometimes gets carried away but far and away our 2nd best ballhandler. Not even sure who would be 3rd. He is our backup point guard.
Not sure who is third? There is no second. It's Ponds and then a bunch of guys who play wing. Simon is the only one who is unaware of his limitations.

You could have got the answer going to espn.com instead of posting it 3 times

Or by checking the final score.

Very nice win, put us back where we need to be going into tough stretch with 4 of next 5 on the road. All 5 of our starters played very solid games. Simon blows a lot of layups, but he helps the team in so many other ways. That steal and length of the court pass for a layup really put the game away.
Great win and watching Butler v. DePaul. Butler is not good at all and Femi on this team would have us in the top 15.
He averages 4.7 rebounds a game and he can't cover anyone. Krempelj would be a better option.

You have to get rid of that 13inch black and white with rabbit ears you are watching these games on.

Heron had a nice second half after 2 fouls and non existent first half. Nice to see him come around. Heron and the defense were the difference in the second half. If We can keep Heron on track we will be tough to beat. Good to see Keita hit a jump shot and play better. Looks like he starting to obtain some level of comfort. Hopefully he continues to improve. All in all a good win.

We have a way of making post players look better than they are. Femi Olujobi was Femi Olajuwon against us. Krampelj looked like Kevin McHale in the first half tonight. Thank god Creighton's strength is their 3 point shot, because if McDermott pulls a Leitao and strictly attacks us inside for 40 minutes, who knows .....

Keeping with the good vibes, uconn lost to Tulsa. Their record is 10-8 and 1-4 in a crap conference. Throw in the fact that both Hurley and Haith were ejected.

Remind me again why we should bail out that wretched program? Let them continue to fall into obscurity. Could not have happened to a better program.

When you make a deal with the devil, he will come to take what is owed.

That crap conference may get 5 bids like the Big East

I would not bet on 5 bids for the BE.

Nice comeback after a sluggish first half.
Didn't like our switching defense in the first half. Keita found himself guarding the guard while Simon or Ponds was left guarding Krempelj.
Thought our aggressive defense in the second half led to energy and better ball movement.
Figueroa is a blessing, all hands on defense plus an excellent rebounder.Once again thank you Matt.
BTW, Fig is 4th in double, doubles in the B.E.
Appreciated Gottlieb's comment, "As dangerous as any college team in the country and Big East."
Team win, double figure scoring from Ponds, Figueroa, Heron and Simon.
Had to love Mullin's post game interview. He spoke to Looie before the game and asked for advice. Looie told him to make sure Shomorie plays..

That was a huge huge win, a loss tonight would have put us at 2-4, then we'd start pressing and going to Butler. It could have been a slide waiting to happen. I wouldn't be to confident winning Saturday.

The confidence with Ponds back, could be enough to win at Butler.
From 2-5 after Butler, to 4-3 after Butler, that's a big difference.
Then the much needed week off, knowing you avoided a disaster, take the week off and don't look back.

Really good crowd, into the game and helped energize the team. Personally would suffer the heat and bleachers for the intimacy of knowing most everyone bv around you for years and making it a tough place for opponents.

All been said about out guys . Not much to add. Heron ready to bust out.

Cincinnati and Houston for sure. No one else is guaranteed.
Marquette and Villanova for sure. No one else is guaranteed.
Top to bottom Big East is stronger.

When I want to see a heady, athletic player with great hands I prefer Senor Figueroa :)
