(POST-GAME) Creighton, Thur., Dec. 17, 5p, FS-1 / 970 AM WNYM

I don't know how many 7 foot players we still have to face, but we are 0 and 3 so far against them. While I think Toro has some skills around the basket, he is not tall or athletic enough for the Big East. Moore is long and athletic, but not strong or fearless enough. The rebound of every missed shot by Creighton looked like a jump ball on a Hail Mary to the end zone. What ever happened to boxing out. Seems like the team doesn't communicate on defense.

I can’t watch the games being overseas, but that appears to be a good thing. Our defense sounds horrible. Even with integrating new players, these kids should know how to do the basics like communicate and play d. Anderson recruited them and he should have been looking for these tendencies.

The big question that I wanted to see get answered this year is do we have a solid core moving forwarding that can be built upon. I don’t know if that question is answered. Julian, Posh, Cole, Moore, Williams, Robert and Earlington felt like (and still feels like) they are a solid core to build upon. To me the outstanding question is are Cole and Moore better than they are showing or are their flaws truly being exposed at this level. If those two can’t make a leap then we have serious roster issues going forward.

At the end of last year we were a team no one wanted to face. I guess we will wait and see if these kids get it together.

Can we just play the games?

Pretty simple stuff.

Can not play disciplined half court man to man defense.
The press does not work against high competition.
Need 3 point shooters for court spacing.

Sorry one more thing.

Posh and Dunn can not be on the court together from an offensive perspective as they can not shoot the 3 and they do not even look at the basket beyond the 3 point line. Court spacing for others is diminished.

Posh, Dunn and Wusu can DEFINETLY not be on the court together from an offensive perspective. Same as above only that COURT SPACING FOR OTHERS IS NON-EXISTENT!!!!!

I try to be optimistic and positive and still think we’re on the right trajectory but this is hard to watch. Hopefully we right the ship to compete this year.

Leave it to ST Joh’s to break Anderson never having a losing season streak. If think about it was a perfect marriage.

Highlight of the game (at least for me and my daughter who watched it with me), we saw my cutout in the stands. Unfortunately it was during a replay of a three hit by Zegarowski.

Just bad. The only thing keeping it from being pathetic overall is they did make runs and came close to tying it up, but Creighton would hit a shot, we would then take a dumb shot or turn it over and then Creighton would hit another shot.

How bout looking inside or drive first instead of taking your first five shorts from behind the 3 arc (it might have been less than five or more, I stopped counting at three as I was getting extremely frustrated).

How can anyone paint a positive on this team and staff
We did not get players who shoot well
We did not get players who rebound well
We did not get players who are quick we do not have a coach or staff that teaches basics since we never see them in games
We did not get a legit big who could defend and rebound
We did not get a coach who teaches 1/2 court plays etc
Just venting excuse the negative seven though I will rout for them just pissed

We played the #9 team in the country last night, the final result is normal and customary when a rebuilding program plays a top 10 team. This does not excuse GT loss but last night result should not be a surprise. Onto the next game.

For us to be successful we need Williams and Cole to be on their game. Posh will always give effort Champ needs to match his Defense effort to his Offense. In a world where everyone hits 3's consistently, no matter who the coach is , we can't find 1. But this is my team, like a marriage thru sickness and health....who know sickness would be 30* years. Yet I'm still committed to the kids who where StJohns on their chest

I did not expect us to win, but I did not expect us to fold the way we did. So from that perspective, it was a surprise. Creighton is a very good and very well balanced team. We made them look like a great team when we hit a brick wall.

I think the "core" question is a good one and a 2 part question. The first part is: is the talent good enough to consider it a "core" group to build upon? The second part is; "how long will this(or any) core group stay together? In this day and age with immediate transfer rule, kids having more pay-to-play options, etc, you're not going to see as many kids together for 3 or 4 years. That's why the urgency to win is so much greater then it's ever been. If kids don't see a team on the cusp of being very good, they'll just leave for a team that is. Just as Owens and LJ did. Not saying those were their only reasons, but they both left for teams that were winners, as opposed to sticking around on teams that might be winners.

The frustration expressed by many of us is not based on one game. We have been lousy all year and were not competitive in the first game we played against good competition. This team is clearly not as good as last year’s team and last year’s team finished near the bottom. Recruiting is sub-par, and we look overmatched and out-coached. Some of us are middle aged and do not have the patience or emotional fortitude for yet another rebuild.

Like Patrick a lot and don't wish him bad luck in most cases, but in this case hopefully his bad luck becomes our good luck; Lord knows we need some right now!

I wish I was still middle aged. What's the alternative to "patience(to a degree) and/or emotional fortitude"? I get getting crazy over the team and the results, I do it myself, but ultimately we have to decide whether we are willing to ride it out with CMA, or stop following the program.....which I've considered more times then I can remember.

Jalen Harris didn't even play against us last Sunday.
