I guess losing does it but they didn't look like they wanted to play tonight from the start.
We’re they hoping for a snow day off? They sure played that way.

Nope, just optimistic.

It felt that way tonight once things got outta hand.

Our defense was horrific. Creighton shot 57% from the floor and also 57% from the 3 point line. The helter skelter defense that we play lacks basic fundamentals and the double teams often result in our opponents getting wide open looks from 3 point land or easy uncontested layups.

The full court press can be a useful weapon as a surprise change of pace tactic to speed up your opponent or to generate steals. But to press a well coaching team that handles the ball reasonably well for the entire game serves no real purpose. I really believe that we would have been more successful defensively tonight playing a 2-3 zone.

We have now started 0-3 in conference play for the third time in four years. Very frustrating.

Great defensive preparation on the part of Anderson. Really stopped their three point shooting. 97 points last game and 94 points tonight. No excuse.

Anybody else surprised with Champagnie's blow by defense.

Someone please tell Moore you have to box out on defense.

Roberts has to get playing time. We made their 7' center look like Wilt.

Why do we start every game shooting threes when we should be penetrating with our speed.

Outside of Wusu who played great, a complete horror show. This team stinks. Get a kid in here that can shot the 3. My goodness.

I'm not so much discouraged by the score we got beat by but by the fact that we just didn't look like we were into the game that much along with the fact that things are clearly not good between coach and Cole and we are going nowhere w/o him playing significant minutes. Add to that that Champ hit some shots but showed zero interest on defense. If we don't come out with lots more fire on Sunday, we're looking at finish at or near bottom of the league.

Easy to say it is early, but the D is beyond atrocious and hard to think that will improve very quickly. Once again they have dug a big hole early in a tough BE. I thought seventh place was possible but likely it will be lower I hate to say. Hopefully the kids don’t get discouraged.

Cole dog house situation if true is concerning, considering their absence of scorers. He’s not perfect, but not sure they can fill his 12 ppg easily.
I thought Cole was slow reacting tonight. Wouldn't hurt to set some picks for him. In fact when was the last time it happened.

I don't believe Cole played at all in the second half. I think he got lost and was late couple times before intermission and was yanked. Knowing how he's a competitor and has sulked a handful times; it may have ticked off Anderson.

My biggest issue is the defense or lack of. That's correctable, but I'm wondering if we can get it adequately corrected this season.

This used to be a place that I really enjoyed to read about St Johns basketball but unfortunately lately it just seems full of hate for the program and I’m getting to the point where I’d rather just avoid it than listen to the same miserable people posting the same garbage over and over. This group is far from perfect but we are in a situation where our younger players are thrown into the fire right away...this happens because there’s been no stability here for a very long time and our upper class men to be perfectly honest are not Big East players plain and simple. Our staff is working very hard to change the perception here and they are and will continue to bring in players that can compete here...unfortunately some of you only have the patience for instant gratification...ask yourself where this Crieighton team was 2yrs ago when they were freshman and sophomores...btw it’s Kansas on Sat.

Have another drink!

I see we've already reached the "Give St. John's credit, they came out and played hard" part of the season.

I never thought I had a drinking problem , but with this team discovered I do. I don't drink and I should - a lot.

Frustrating to see us claw back and then turn ball over and completely lose it from that point on

My takeaways:
Possessing limited talent, we need to play smarter and like junkyard dogs. Yes, we press...but we don’t dive for loose balls (Champagnie needs to be talked to on this aspect), we don’t box out and don’t hit the boards hard. . .realize that we are at height disadvantage but that’s when you have to play rough. . .Lamont Middleton played “big” and didn’t take any bleep from bigs. . ..Concerning that they were inviting Dunn to shoot and he wasn’t able to hit them unless they were off the dribble...Posh needs to be told to stop over playing and losing his man., ..we were better off w/Dunn on Zegarowski and Posh on Ballock...admittedly a little surprised that a CMA team is playing this soft

I’m hopeful that a win will turn things around for us

2 points: First, the hate has been here on and off for the past 20 years, maybe you just noticed it. Second, we don't need this staff to bring in players who can COMPETE here, we need them to bring in players who can WIN here. If and when that happens, you'll see a lot less hate on this board.

He is not a 12 ppg scorer against decent competition
