Today's big question. Will the Johnnies win another game this season?

I still think it's possible to pick up a couple more wins at home. But, probably unlikely. Even one more win will be tough.

Any thoughts?

Anderson's no losing season record is unsalvageable. Imho I seriously doubt the Johnnies will play any differently in the remaining games.

The season has given the younger players valuable BE experience. They'll need to fill leadership roles next season.
Gtown and Prov were the two 'wins' IMO at home.
Gtown is now gone. Next game I would think is our most winnable game left. What does that nerd Ken Pom say?

There's only four home games left.

Providence and Xavier are possible wins. I'm cautiously optimistic that the Johnnies will defend home court. Let's hope so.

Season ends with the Johnnies at home against Marquette.

Two more wins and a run in the BE tourney could earn a NIT invitation. No need to dwell on that possiblity. The Johnnies will have to play their best basketball to get those wins. They'll have to fight for any chance at the NIT.

And if my math is right there are 7 BE games left. Plus 1 BET tournament game so 8 games left. That means CMA needs to win 3 to finish 500 to keep his streak alive

Winning 5 of 19 in conference (including 1st game of tourney) in conference to be able to keep a streak alive, proves how meaningless of a streak this is.

Beating up cupcakes shouldn't count.

BTW - W. Va lost to Oklahoma yesterday.

I can hardly be accused of singing MA’s praises so far but fair is fair; his career conference record coming into this year is 163-121 with four losing conference seasons out of his 17 years so tough to say his record has been achieved against cupcakes. I don’t want to be a hypocrite because I posted what I posted and that reflects my opinion of what I am seeing but the man certainly more than deserves his years to turn this around (and certainly not inferring you are saying anything contrary to that.)

Cupcakes! Sad, but isn't that what some of the better programs consider us to be?

I never heard of such nonsense as this supposed “streak”. One positive thing is we will never have to hear about this dumb stat again.

Why is it a "dumb stat" or something insignificant? Because you think it is or said so? If I had been a head coach for nearly two decades and never had a losing season, then I think I would personally like to keep it in tact.

First of all, it means I've won more games than I've lost in a season, which is the primary goal. Lastly, it would keep a personal streak alive. There's a reason only 5 coaches who has coached for 15 years or more can say it.

Yes. I think it is a dumb stat. Doesn't mean it is, but I believe it's not something worth putting much weight in. So many coaches in D1 would never even have a legit shot. I believe a coach is better evaluated against their peers in conference and post seasons, not inflated records filled with home games where low D1 teams are paid to travel with expectation to lose by 20-30 points for the experience.

Logen posted his conference record of 163-121 and 4 of 17 losing season. Certainly respectable but far from elite. I like him so far and want him to succeed here but don't want to get enamored with feel good metric. If he happens to pull it off this year, he should be thankful for the games in OOC.
