Roberts’ minutes reduction a trend.
Reminds me of the year Polee was here. He would start every game then disappear to the bench rest of the game
The only guys who should be back are Dunn, Earlington, Champagnie, Williams and Roberts. Williams I don’t think is fully healthy as he has been battling some back issues since the beginning of the season but he does fit this system when healthy. Roberts has untapped talent so I would like him to stay. Go out and recruit 8 more guys. And let’s go from there. We have 4 already in Posh, Wusu, Cole and Moore. Go get four more. I would even let McGriff go, he’s to small.
The issue is the only starting level caliber player is Julian.
Dunn is 8th best on a BE team
Earlington 8-9
Roberts 8-9
Point being most are likely 3rd off the bench best. The four coming in I trust CMA and his staff on. However there are more ships to be had this spring.
It seems like the guys who play the least on this team, are the most popular players with the fanbase. As soon as some of these guys get more time, their popularity goes south (Earlington being an exception, of course).
The same with transfers. We spend a year or two bashing a guys game, then they play well elsewhere, and it's "look at what we lost", but a lot of people saying that wanted said player to leave in the first place.

I believe that Lavin promised Polee (and his father) that he would start, since Polee had reservations about coming on to a team that had 10 seniors. So, that was just Lavin keeping his promise.
That team had success though, so it was tough to argue with that strategy.

Dunn is not a point guard he looks to drive and rarely sees the open man.

I think Roberts issue is that this teams struggles offensively already and Roberts is still very raw offensively. He’s limited offensively and doesn’t shoot free throws well either. Defensively and rebounding wise he’s fine. But, when you have a team that struggles to score it’s tough to have him out there against a team like creighton that you know will knock down threes and score a ton of points. If CMA had his roster and we were pressing for 40 minutes, running The floor and scoring in transition then Roberts would be much more effective. But CMA doesn’t have the roster for that yet so he’s plays a lot more in the half court than he wants to currently and Roberts just can’t excel the way CMA needs him to in the half court right now.

This right here is exactly right. I’ll give McGriff a pass though. Plenty of great small Pg’s out there. Let’s see what he can do first and we will need a second Pg regardless.

Big spring ahead indeed. With the right players we can rebuild this thing pretty fast and at least get in the right track.

Right, so CMA brings in Sears for offensive fire power

Agreed, especially since CMA can take the team to Europe this summer. That will give a team with a lot of newcomers a chance to come together early. It’s coming at the perfect time.

Yes, let’s not renew mcgriff’s scholarship despite the fact that he’s never played a game. Show him the door!

Sears is not better offensively than Roberts. Kid has maybe scored 14 points all year
FYI for all that are saying that Roberts is a liability on offense, he has the highest FG % on the team! He needs to play the MOST! This playing small ball has not worked. How about playing our BIGS together . Roberts , Sears, and Champagne together with two guards. We can be beasts inside. We have nothing else to lose.
