Cole is not a Big East player, period.
I am not going to quit on Cole. He saved our asses against St. Peter's and Rider.
I understand how you feel. Just don't like what I see. Can't get off his own shot (to slow), his decision making and passing is atrocious. I hope he gets better but he's not guy I want on the floor right now. Rather have Wasu.
Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to play to his strength, maybe run a couple of rubs so he can catch and shoot. But to continue to allow him to make the same mistakes over and over, knowing his limitations does boggle the mind.

This game is exactly why I wanted UConn back.

They were already out recruiting us in the AAC (as is Seton Hall), and we have nothing to lose at this point. We've sucked for a while. We do, however, have a lot to gain. This game was by FAR our biggest win of the year. By far. Nationally ranked team, huge following, local rival, BIG FOX (first time this year for us), all thanks to UConn joining.

We all know why Syracuse stopped playing us. It's because they've been better than us for decades but we were getting too much attention by beating them. They had nothing to gain while we had a lot to gain. When you're an irrelevant underdog you always want to play in big rival games like this. Unlike Duke and Syracuse, UConn can't run from us.

Win or lose, games against teams like UConn and Nova are why I enjoy watching. Even when we're mediocre we still have a chance to rejuvenate our season. The Butler win last week was nice, but this was awesome and potentially will turnaround our season.

Great to pull out a win, but we continue to lack execution when trying to close out a W, all self inflicted. But hey, any win @UConn is to be commended.

Yes, we still have too many unforced errors, will hoist ill-advised shots, will be slow with help defense rotations and have a tendency to watch the ball instead of boxing out.  But, the defensive effort has improved, the decisions on offense are getting better and this team is improving.  We still haven't put together a full game, but have been competitive with everyone but Creighton and are starting to pull out a few W's.

No doubt a great win on the road, and a highly enjoyable one at that. If this team could just cut down on unforced mistakes, and value the ball, we'd have at least a couple more wins on the board. It was good to see us close out a win.

Once Posh gets more experience at the college level and controls the game better on the offensive end he is going to be a very good college ballplayer. If he develops a jump shot off the dribble with his speed he will be a great player.

He's an excellent, if raw young player.  The thing is there won't be a college Pg that worked harder.  He can actually shoot and score, and when he starts to be a threat he will make everything else easier on himself.  Warrior.  He will push us to the next level with his tenacity.

First time I have seen UConn play this year, and I know they are without their best player, but I was not impressed. Didn't look all that great of a team to me.

With Bouknight they are up there with Crieghton and Nova, probably a notch below. Without him they are middle of the Big East pack. Still good though, and better then they looked today.

Firstly I like this format of no locking the game time thread.  It provides continuity of conversation.
As for the game, even without Book this was an impressive come from behind win.  This was arguably Champs worst game of the season. Vince Cole was lost with the ball in his hands and our defense sucked in the first half by allowing uncontested threes from the corner.
The second half was the team that got coach Anderson's message and Champ became active on offense.
It was the boys built like men who really made the difference by using their physicality and tenacity.  Posh and Wusu are freshmen built for Big East play. The Duke never backs down and Rasheem Dunn is a warrior.  It's going to take a little little longer for Cole and Moore to be factors due to their limited skillsets but sitting them rather than starting them hopefully gives them a chance to learn by observation.
I hope Greg Williams is ok because he is very important to this team.

Really satisfying win. Will make the next few days a lot easier.

the refs were awful. The goaltend call against Champ was poor as was the cheap foul on Dunn at the end.

I like Dunn's  tenacious D and driving to the basket, but I cringe at his decision making offensively late game. The drive into 3 defenders late and getting tied up could have been a disaster. He needs to move the ball around and try to get it  in your playmakers hands. I like Posh or GWill handling late game possessions. Confident they will make the right decisions.

Obviously great win; I did not see "winning time" as I had a family commitment so only watched through my rant on the game thread. One comment up to what I saw and no new revelation, Alexander is one tough, competitive SOB and I have seen very few players play harder play in and play out in all my years around basketball.

Never thought I'd say this, but Id like him to reel it in just a little bit. Concerned that he may hurt himself, in which case  we'd  really be in deep s_ _ t.

Can't disagree with the hurt part but you play(ed),  almost impossible to reel in that kind of intensity; you either have it or you don't and he has it.

Posh is only going to get better.  He seems to be taking big steps every day.  He's slowly starting to take his shots, which he had to do, and he's making them.  Posh is a nasty player and he's going to be a problem for the rest of the Big East over the next few years. Special kid with a motor that's incredible.

We won, so I'm happy with Anderson. Might be pissed again soon, but I think we win the next game too so I'll be riding high for a little while. We should probably realize by now that no matter how much we might envy another program, that program will always have fans who want to run their coach out of town on a rail./media/kunena/emoticons/grin.png

And he was great on the post game interview and glad Coach chose him to be there to speak!
