We won, so I'm happy with Anderson. Might be pissed again soon, but I think we win the next game too so I'll be riding high for a little while. We should probably realize by now that no matter how much we might envy another program, that program will always have fans who want to run their coach out of town on a rail./media/kunena/emoticons/grin.png

yep, thanks for the insights

it took the great Mike K about 3-4 years to get rolling - he was almost fired - I think Johnny Dawkins' (?) recruitment was the key to turn Duke around AND imho
there is a " Johnny Dawkins " waiting for us out there.

Posh now leads BE in steals by a large margin and is 5th in assists with the 4 guys ahead of him all juniors and seniors, not to mention all the things he does that don't show up in the boxscore. Certainly playing like a 4 star recruit.

The first place I went was the boneyard. I love seeing the meltdown.

They complained about their big man not getting more minutes? Any thoughts on why he didn't play more?

Hurley claimed he did not want him drawn to perimiter to guard Earlington or Julian and was not going zone. I bet he regrets it now. He also took him out w a lot of time left.

A very good Win on the Road and in Storrs to boot , makes it even better . The UConn fans appear even more merciless than us on their Criticism of Hurley . They almost , to a poster , barely gave credit to our Players who Won the Game . Posh , Wusu , Champ when he got going were , the key factors . We did miss Wiliams .  Our smallish guards were beating the Gaffneys,Cole's to the hoop all day and they finished or got fouled . Makes you think how much better we would be now , had we won the GTown and Marquette games .

A couple of leftover thoughts from yesteray's game...

Josh Roberts reemergence has been such a big part of how much better this team has looked over the last 3 games. His defensive contribution is obviously the more important part but he's been somewhat of a contributor on offense also and that's been mostly due to Posh Alexander. Roberts has been lurking around the basket and keeping his hands up and Alexander has hit him for at least a couple of easy dunks or lay-ins each game. 2 or 3 baskets doesn't seem like alot but we know turning Roberts into a plus on the offensive end at all is pretty big deal.

Also for Alexander, I thought this may have been his best offensive game since the BC game earlier in the year and the similarity is that he hit an early 3. I've said this a couple of times but he handles the ball for us so much and he's fast with great vision. If the defense respects him as an outside threat he immediately becomes the most dangerous player on the court. I know he looks to get everyone involved which I love but if he sees that open jumper on one of the first few possessions moving foward I hope he'll pull the trigger. Just like an offense establishing the run in football, it's what opens everything else up for him.

Posh plays like a NHL hockey Player as he goes all out on just about every play when he's on the Court .  Hockey Players push it for a 45 second or so shift , maybe a little more but , Posh is like the Energizer Bunny , all the time . Plus , he's knocked to the Ice , I mean floor, more than  Mike Tyson 's opponents .

No doubt it's had to do with being emotionally drained by the craziness, concerns, and distractions of the past 10 months or so (including some on a personal level), but I confess that I haven't followed this year's team with the same passion I've had in the past -- and that goes back many, many years -- and in a couple of instances, and to my surprise, I didn't even know the team had played until I saw the final score on the internet. But yesterday (probably because I was riled by pre-game taunts from two UConn friends), for the first time this season, I watched the entire game -- and through most of second half, my blood was pumping OT and my heart was racing, much like it used to. It was like a "welcome back" to myself. What made it special, of course, was that it was against UConn, but also that our guys played their butts off from start to finish. And the icing on the cake was reading the comments on the boneyard site and reading how CMA outcoached Hurley. Very sweet.

You hit the nail on the head.  Posh is getting a lot better.  He took some heat but for a freshman guard he's excellent.  He's such a beast going to the hole.  He's now taking the open shots he needs to take to keep teams honest. He killed UConn's guards, and they are talented kids.  Gonna be an excellent Pg for us for next few years.   Posh was a huge difference maker in this one.

Thought our defense was really good. That's the way we should play every game
we still do not have knock down shooters, and we still need to upgrade our talent.let's hope next yet we do just that

I get the love for Earlington and Wusu today. They picked up the slack for Champ and Williams, and helped lead us to a victory. But let's not get carried away here. Both have had games where they've given us nothing. Both are  good role players, but our best 5 right now are Champ, Williams, Posh, Dunn and probably Roberts and should get the bulk of the minutes.  Moore, Wusu and Earl should be 6-8 and also see decent minutes.

great win, given that we got little scoring from Champ, Williams and Cole.  Got great contributions from others.   While I would love to rely on consistent scoring from Champ, Williams, and perhaps Cole (who I thought could be more of an LJ-type scorer), it shows that our depth, which we have not had in years, can enable others to pick up the scoring slack when needed.  And remember, even while Cole did not help in scoring, he did have a couple of blocks that helped.

Hopefully they'll be able to reschedule the DePaul game this weekend to keep the momentum going.
