(POST GAME) @Butler, Sat., Feb. 5, 12 Noon, FS-1

Best part of this win is they won a tight game on the road that required them to get stops and execute on the offensive end and make free throws.  They were 3 for 3 on all of them.

Also they had a very large free throw disparity in their favor something we always seem to point out when it goes the other way.

Next 3 games Villanova/UCONN/Xavier.  I think they need to get 2 of them.  That will get them back to .500 and also will be 2 more Quad 1 wins.

They better win at home against Nove and Yukonn then, because I don't think beating Xavier away is very likely.

Xavier just lost at home to DePaul, and DePaul was missing 2 key players.  Xavier has lost 3 of their last 5,with 2 of those losses being at home.  Xavier is a very beatable team.

Only games I really don't like our chances in is @Marquette.  Marquette has looked amazing, their defense is on point and they play hard for the entire 40 minutes and they like to play fast and press a little bit as well, it's going to be a tough match-up for us.

Every other game is winnable, especially if Nova is without Gillipse.

I hate to be the barrier of the bad news but if Posh is out coach will definitely start Wusu, coach has done that most of the season when posh has been out. Btw this just my opinion but feel very strongly that's what will happen......
I agree. Wusu will start at pg w/ Posh out.  And Stef smith will back him up.  Id rather have either of those guys then Archidachano.  He is awful.

And it will be important to start coburn over mathis with wusu at pg.  You cannot play wusu and mathis together big minutes.  That will kill us.

I get what you are saying about Xavier, but I have been at a number of our games there and that is a very difficult place for us. I don't know why, it just is.

CMA is not going to start Coburn over Mathis, at this point in the year he doesn't like tinkering with his lineups too much as he likes everyone comfortable in their role heading into the home stretch.  And Coburn seems to finally be getting in a groove and finding his role with this team.  Wusu is the back up PG, so he'll start if Posh is unable to go.  That's also going to mean more minutes for Smith and Coburn.  Hopefully Posh is ready to go though, he came in and played for a couple minutes after he was taking out.

We never had a guy who played harder then posh. We never had a guy we needed to do more then we need posh. That man is a sju hall of fame player for us. I can't figure how we can win any of those game without him. Coach wikk say next man up, but in this case he won't feel these will be winnable. Posh gives so much it aint right for him to get hurt bad steppen on a guys tow.

Good game from the team.  It appears that Joel and Aaron are catching up to CMA's offensive game.  Joel played big minutes today, 28, and stayed out of foul trouble; also, he does not attempt shots away from the basket.  Aaron is now more in the flow of the game and is showing a lot more confidence.  He is starting to look like a natural for CMA's style.  Omar's 1/2 from the line was "unexpected", getting 1 of 2 from him is a gift.
On Redstorm Report, CMA noted the FT problem and rightly addressed it in yesterday's practice.  Also, he discussed the conditioning issues relevant at this point in the season and cutting back on practicing to enhance the game time energy level which also benefitted from a day with practice of only FT's.
While I want to see Posh against Nova, it will probably be a game time decision.  We did play 2 games late last season w/o him and had 2 wins.  I want him for as many games as possible so foregoing one to enhance the cure makes sense to me.

We had a backup point guard last year and others who could give ya a couple of minutes. Has waz learned not to dribble into a crowd yet? Don't matter if he gets there cause it gets blocked. Guys on this board made it know we needed another pg and those guys were right on. I hope waz never has to fill that role again.

hurry up, make love, and have kids and we’ll make the Final Four
all the best
SS&G

If that was the case we'd have won a national championship 17 years ago ( except the having kids part. lol )

Proverbial one at a time works for SJ now. Good we won today to avoid the 10+ poster homicides this week. Felt like Braveheart

If only is was 10 years earlier, lol.

If he had just married her on the spot at the winery the luck would have kicked in right away and I wouldn't have had to sit through that brutal USF loss./media/kunena/emoticons/grin.png

Those are the types of practices where you know your coach is royally pissed. If they had missed a lot this game next practice would have been them sprinting up bleachers outdoors.

Maybe on Tuesday we could skip the shoot around and just have players close out on assistant coaches launching threes.

The pre game and halftime warm-ups got me laughing how heads might scratch if team only came out with defensive walk throughs and warm ups were done.

Layup type line of Tons of blocked shots, swipes, swats, elbows on backs.

Psychological warfare vs Jay Wright.

Since it's been a multi-decade problem we can invite 20 former assistants to join in. Each player will have 2.5 assistants to work with.

Or maybe they are the type of practice you have whenthe team plays 4 games in 8 days, including travel to DC to Indy to home.

I should have known if she didnt break up with me a day or 2 after getting engaged at right before that brutal loss then she could withstand almost all my St Johns misery :)
