Possible Coaching Candidates

Naclerio had to pretty much put him in a Bob Backlund chicken wing to get him to take Hill though.
Is Ronnie still around? I haven't seen him at the games for a while? He always randomly sits next to me. He used to shove 3 of his players in the row I used to sit in behind the bench. Not sure how all of our fat butts used to squeeze in that row.

he was at a ton of SJU games this year, he's still coaching Cardozo, and he was at a ton of high school games (in his Cardozo jacket)

He's very active still

I am sure he did. The exchange went something like this:

Pitino: “Good luck Ed. Providence still has a soft spot in my heart.”

Cooley: “Thanks. Hope you pull the upset.”

Pitino: “How are things otherwise with the program?”

Cooley: “Not bad. Could always be better. Really miss Fr. Shanley’s leadership”.

Pitino: “I have said once and I will say it over again, he is a superstar.”

Cooley: “Yes he is. You will do great things working with him in short order…”

Conversation ends abruptly as reporters begin to listen in.

How special is SJU?

"So that's really important to me as well. I look at that as the No. 1 factor in my life. So to answer your question that would be honest, it's going to take a special place for me to consider leaving." - Pitino

Good to hear. I guess my attendance wasn't too good recently. It's hard watch bad teams at bad times...

Special enough. Rick is playing it perfectly, saying how great Iona is but stopping short of committing to Iona or eliminating any chance he will leave.

That way when he does leave no one can accuse him of lying.....

Special enough I hope. Remember when we were in the top 5 wins by a program? Man that seems like forever ago.
Ah yes. I do remember that stat well. I had to Google it. We're still in the top 10, at number 9, but so many teams have passed us by.

He would like to coach for another 10 years.

"Well, I'm physically fit and mentally I think I still have it," Pitino said Thursday. "But my wife always says, 'If you want to make God laugh, make a plan.' I think you just take it one year at a time. Now, my desire would be to coach that long.

Impressive that Temple is still up there. I guess they played the most seasons. Now that Jimmy is gone the 'Cuse will be dropping....

I believe we'd still be fifth if we hadn't vacated wins from the Jarvis years - we had to vacate any win that Abe Keita played in.
