Ponds
Side topic here is Amalfi and Positano...
If you want to hire a fantastic local guide, superb English, personable, with world travel experience..
Try Tony Taxi of Positano...on trip advisor or directly. He knows the amalfi coast’s every rock and turn and every side trip to avoid the traffic backups. The taxi is really a Mercedes van in most cases. I took my family on a cruise ship tour of Mediterranean and he was the highlight.
Sorry to distract from Ponds discussion but with several redmen going, i thought it was worth mentioning.
Having been there many times, for those short on time and patience, a fast way to see the Amalfi Coast is to avoid driving and the inevitable traffic jams by boat hopping. If you stay in Sorrento where hotel rates are reasonable, the Cooperativa San Antonio will normally pick you up and take you to their boats in Massa Lubrense a short drive away.

Well the wait will be over this week and sense perhaps an additional item of interest.

Thanks Paultz. I won't go off...speculating on which way the tea leaves are bending.

That would do it. Great movie!

Perhaps an additional item of interest other than Shamorie Ponds deciding that he would rather take his chances in the 2nd round this year rather than the 2nd round next year.;)
It's a very difficult decision when all the projections into 2019 and beyond have you consistently in the 2nd round.
I'm more optimistic about the additional item of interest.

‘72, you’ve got me nervous. Hoping early 2nd round next year versus maybe a 2nd round this year is worth it for Shamorie—taking us out of the equation.
That said, that ‘additional item of interest’ has leaped quadrants in importance...

Paultz, all along you you’ve been relatively optimistic in expressing your belief that Ponds will likely return. Is that still your view?

I got feedback re one of his recent workouts that pointed to him needing a lot of work defensively. Additionally some folks close to program felt his dad favored him coming back. Perhaps Shamorie’s desire trumps all and he opts to go. Either way won’t surprise me at this point.

Either way, we should all wish him well. If he decides to leave, I don't agree and I think the instant gratification is a mistake so many others have made...but it's his choice. The worst possible outcome would be Ponds leaving and falling off the radar trying to make a roster, then posters on here still think Mullin's the answer after another year of missing the tournament with a constant refrain of "Well, we lost Ponds what did you expect?". As some others have said, he's going into year 4...to have to rely so much on 1 player is his problem and will not be an excuse if Ponds leaves.

If he comes back and works on his defense all summer that could be huge for us. With Dixon filling in the missing spot from last season, he shouldn't have to play the ironman minutes so more wind for defense too. I expect for the same reason his offensive efficiency will improve.

At least this will get resolved one way or another shortly. Between the Sid Wilson thing and Lovett quitting mid season last season was an adventure.

Most people close to the program, etc, apparently still think Ponds will come back when he has to make the final call. Of course the kid wants to go pro - which of these kids doesn't - but his Dad believes one more year is in his best interest. No one has a crystal ball with these things, which is why you aren't hearing outright guarantees, but the tea leaves still show him returning and I don't think the Herron situation has anything to do with it one way or the other.

Add Heron & there'd certainly be plenty of opportunity in practice next year for Shamorie to work on his defense with all the offensive talent we'd have

Spot on re Heron comment

Could be true but just have a hard time believing a player of MH's caliber would come here to share the ball. Both Ponds and Heron want to put up big numbers to get drafted...why would they split time and stats? I'd be astonished if Ponds stayed and Heron got a waiver to play for us next year.

Lovett dominated the ball and had no issue playing with Ponds. Talent often likes playing with talent; playing with talent helps showcase your own abilities and compensate for any deficiencies. Other teams don't focus on you as much. If we had 3 All Big East first team guards I could see that. No reason why a kid with Herron's aspirations wouldn't want to play with some talented guards/wings and there are plenty of scenarios in our small ball lineup in which that would work.
