Please Take A Deep Breath ... Keep an Open Mind ... Give the Guy a Chance

A poster on JJ (P1NSRT1PEZ??) says that Brey is coming to meet with Cragg on a Monday.

Not sure if this another coach getting on line to leverage his current team, a courtesy interview or genuine interest
Just like Cluess, Bray is 60 years old. Also, probably too expensive for SJU.
Bray is not "just like Cluess"!!
The point I am trying to make (which I think you get) is that people have been complaining that Cluess is too old (I do not agree with that) and Bray is the same age.
Brey comes with a proven high-major pedigree, which increases the likelihood of quick results. Cluess is going to have to prove himself, which will take time (especially with a bare cupboard to start).

I'm warming up to Cluess and like tis NY/SJU history. But I'd prefer we have a plug-and-play guy who commands immediate respect on the recruiting trail.

If this guy is interested he won't screw over Cragg. He is not Hurley looking to get more money.

If the report that he is coming in to talk is true I would bet that this could work out. If Cragg doesn't have the money I don't think he puts his buddy Brey in a bad position by going this far with it.

If the report is true.
Know people hate it & can’t blame them, but Cragg is a process guy who tunes out the noise and will see who he thinks may be a good fit. Hopefully at end of the day he gets it right, but this is probably the toughest decision he has faced in his career. If he fails, he’ll deservedly get heat. This week should be telling & no use fretting about having coach on board quickly to re-recruit kids or land grad transfers, etc, This is just my sense of reality.
Agree that rushing a hire to re-recruit or recruit kids is short sighted. After the failed short term courtship of Hurley Cragg's decided to work this through, let's hope he sorts it out and makes the right choice.

It is really important that Cragg and the admin keep an open mind about the next hire. That includes Pitino or someone else with some baggage. Vet them of course, but don't look just for the highest character guys. After the night in Pittsburgh and the Keita fallout, we had to go with Norm because he had no issues. We have been a clean program, so no need to act as if it's still the Pitt aftermath.

I think we all need to chill about Cragg and the one week he has had to seek out interested candidates.
First of all let's leave the back story about Rod Mullin out of any discussions. From my understanding Mullin leaving had zero to do with the dearly departed. Our esteemed President gave Mullin a no confidence message via Cragg. THAT is the reason he discussed a departure narrative with Cragg after all was discussed. The narrative says he stepped down. That is intended to obfuscate the fact that he was not being extended and, as President Gimpy did to Lavin, insult Mully via his AD. Mullin still wants his money but the school is balking and will use his resignation letter against him. They are just negotiating a $ number now with seems to be impacting the amount they can offer the next coach. Everyone shares some blame in the delivery of the message, including Mullin, but this was orchestrated from the very top with a donor involved.
Finally, pay no attention to the opinions of our respected Mavens who want an inside track with the next coach who most think will be coach Cluess. These mavens were just as taken by surprise as everyone else and have zero access to this President or AD Cragg. Totally disregard anything posted here or on JJ by Marillac. No offense kid. This is being handled very professionally and discreetly by our AD. That is pissing off the impatient. Nothing voiced here will change things one iota so stop attacking each other.

Would you say it's down to Cluess, or a lot more going on than that? Could be that we are all in the dark.

The makes sense 72. Couldn’t understand why we would owe $. Guess admin is willing to negotiate a buy out because they wanted him out and don’t want him to opt to stay.

It's also it's most prominent player and they would like to try and keep the bridge in tact. I'm just not holding my breathe. It was a weak bridge before he became coach.
