Please Take A Deep Breath ... Keep an Open Mind ... Give the Guy a Chance

Now it’s official. Tom’s a member of the pitino family. No one else would shill so hard. Lol. Give it up.

And what makes you think Lil Ricky would leave Minnesota?

We violated the dominant working theorem of the Ages: We hired a guy we couldn't 'fire'.
I think the Board's building 'distaste' with Cragg is misplaced.
Seems to me, MC was going to keep Mullin as HC at least into next year (perhaps a 'reluctant' but 'inevitable' decision given Mullin's celebrity) and was thrown from the horse when Mullin sought a guaranteed extension.
That sparked a short 'face-off' whereby Mullin sought relief from President Gempesaw, was rebuffed and 'stepped down'.
Meanwhile, once Matt left, the roster began to spring leaks.
Cragg reached into his Duke file, called BH, probably also compiled a list of other prospects, but opted to pursue Bobby as Candidate 1, sensing a quick turnaround.
Meanwhile the roster took more hits, BH declined
This forced Cragg to prioritize Cluess, his fallback option.
I've got no clue if there are still other candidates being considered or not, but unless they pass various levels of due diligence and can be inked fast, given our roster predicament and our recruiting needs, Cluess is probably our next HC.
And I think he deserves our support.
On a positive note they can cancel that consulting firm they are paying big dollars to, hopefully get their money back, cause that is history
Meaning, you think we're doomed if we hire Cluess?
Do you 'like' anybody other than Pitino?
Just curious.
My mantra is, I'm fine with 'alternatives' if they pass muster and we can finalize it by early next week.
Cluess is a hard working good coach. This is SJU and historically other traditional powerhouse programs have a much greater level of respect for our history than most of our fans unfortunately. Why do you think Cragg came here? So I am going to keep Cragg to his word. He wants this to be an elite level program playing for championships. So Pitino aside who checks all the boxes, I would take Richard Pitino w/ his dad as special assistant if Rick doesnt pass the smell test, which is stupid.
Any poster here could've hired Tim Cluess. Cragg was supposed to be different. Cragg was supposed to deliver the goods. I'll give Cluess a chance, but I'm irate at how this all played out. Our program looks pathetic right now.

Why would he leave Minn? Number of reasons. 1- easier to get kids to NYC than the frozen tundra 2- has a cheap buy out 3- east coast kid. 3- never going to be the king fish in the big 10 there and he knows it. 4- he took 6 kids from when Isiah Thomas blew up FIU, and won with them! 5- what bigger stage is there for little Ricky to step out of Dads shadow. 6- tradition here! 7- he makes 2.0 mill, we can pay him more, would definitely satisfy all donors. 8- more Nike money in NYC, endorsement deals.9- no endorsement deals for him in frozen Minn.

Yes. He is a real person.

They dont know what is real! This is amateur hour! Dont tell us we are going back to being elite level, get money people pumped, and then hit us with a long haul rebuild. Would Ricky jr be interested, they keep re doing his contract to keep him there, so the school knows he is open to bolt. He is young, great pedigree, recruits like a demon. Damn who wants to play basketball in Minn? His buy out is 500k, so you know he is open!! Cragg knows. He is young, has hooks local, Canada, midwest, and is a Pitino. You have to chase a big fish to land a big fish

Stop bothering me

For me, of the names mentioned, Roy Odom is the most intriguing. He is the son of coach and a hard working basketball junkie. He's young, he wins, and has the profile of a true up-and-comer.

This is a hire I could get excited about. I would put him ahead of Hurley.

If his buyout is that low Repole should get the second best Pitino. Pitino was an early Vitamin Water guy. And loves the ponies

I still dont understand the whole Hurley crap! His father disliked SJU and sent one kid here, and when he didnt get enough pt, he yanked him and sent him to Duke. Why would his son ever come here, unless to beat us. I dont know if Sr had beef with Louie or he wanted the school to donate to the sisters in Jersey city, but Cragg should of known better.

My concerns with Ricky Jr.—if he’s real—are would he bolt at the first whiff of success here for a State school or a ‘better opportunity’ and how long would it take to strike a deal?

With buyout so low. Get him out. Pay him more. And put in high buyout. Problem solved

Why are you afraid of state schools? Roy Williams is at UNC a state school and makes 2.5 million, but he gets Nike money. All this talk about state schools is garbage! Duke is private and pays K what 9 mill. We get a coach like Jr or SR they are cash cows! The money will flow. You guys forgot what winning does for a program

K, well Moose just revealed that Pitino Jr., has a $2mm buyout.
Why are you so awed by Ricky Jr.?
He’s been good but not great in the BT.

Just signed the extension does not kick in until next season, so buy out is still 500k, thats my understanding. The article says the buyout is 2 mill in 2020, 2019 now.

Cluess will play the same no-rebound, no defense style as Mullin with better X's and O's but worse players.

At this point any other name would be a bigger jolt for the program.
