Pitino to get his walking papers today

I'm totally amazed that some posters here think that a guy who just got fired for getting caught up in an FBI investigated scandal and who also had that restaurant incident would suddenly be a hot commodity at SJU?
Your young and single and it's 4am closing time at a bar and desperate to score ( and under the influence ). It's last call and the Juke box starts playing " don't stop believing " . Do you go home or do beer goggles take over and you look for for the last girl standing who went from. 6 to a 9 with beer goggles

He was extremely interested in the job two years ago and put feelers out. Luckily nothing moved beyond the infancy stage.

Great shirt Mr. P!!!

I wonder how many years before this whole "thing" blows over, the memories fade, Louisville starts dolling out money again for recruits, and the shirts pop up at TJMaxx on the clearance rack for $3.00??? :cheer:

Hopefully by then CM has us in the top twenty with regular NCAA appearances :)

Really looking forward to seeing Rick Pitino profiled on an episode of American Greed.

In case anyone is having trouble with the link, Pitino's statement reads: "bla, bla, bla, I didn't know, bla, bla, bla.

Pitino is 65. He's made a ton of dough, and very quickly put his Louisville house up for sale - I guess he didn't fall in love with the area. He will be off limits for awhile and may just retire. Like some guys he may just find a school to take him on in a couple of years should he still want to coach at some level.

He loves the area, he's getting out of Dodge because the natives are restless and his life would be miserable there. As much as they loved him before, the locals would put a bulls eye on his back. He's taking his talents and his millions to some as yet unnamed location.

As Mark Redman posted Pitino will certainly get another job if he doesn't want to retire. If the other schools refused to schedule him because of his cheating past perhaps it might make it more difficult but even if the other cheaters like Pearl etc.agreed to play him he could fill out a schedule.
Just a cesspool.

I wonder if Pitino has any regard for his spouse, girlfriend(s), children, grandchildren, friends, the decent people (there always are some if not many in every college) in the schools who supported him. The embarrassment, the deceit. Wow.
Or does not care at all about others - just the fame, the rings, the cash - lots of it - well

He deserves a lonely gravestone or tomb - golden and gilt-edged of course - he might just find one someday.

Winning without cheating is so hard. Very easy to reconcile yourself with the fact that everyone else is cheating also.

It seems like a victimless crime, but now I feel like SJU fans have been victimized for about the past 30 seasons.

I was told by someone with insight into the situation a while back that while Pitino loves Louisville, his wife never did. Assuming they are even still together (I think they are), maybe she'll have some say on the next destination.

To NYC and to St. John's in 2018 for $3 million. Of course that is a possibility if Mullin has one more losing season. :p
He would hire Mike Rice as his assistant and Matt would go back to Iowa State to recruit transfers.
Rick wins a national title at his 3rd school and rises from the ashes to restore St. John's to the upper echelon of college basketball.

He put out feelers for the job two years ago. Still owns apartment in NYC and majority of family lives in NYC and LI.
School was not interested after previous incidents.
