Pitino to get his walking papers today

Dickie V coming up on ESPN to address Pitino situation.

Where are my ear plugs? I can never find them at the most inopportune times...

It was short, possibly pre-recorded since I just turned on the TV, and I could barely understand him. Better to wait for transcription.

Who cares about Pitino? This thing is just beginning. Funny how a securities investigation probe ends up with inside information into College basketball. Strange bedfellows.
Look for Pitino to get back into NBA

Fran coming up on ESPN to discuss scandal.

Good thing I don't seem to have much work today because I suspect I will be glued to TV all day. . .

How long before Gregg Marshall's name pops up for Louisville job?

Gotta think that the Death Penalty is a very real option at LVlle, Miami and AZ. Last time it was used was similar circumstances and this case is WAY more public and only gonna get bigger. NCAA will be desperate to salvage their already tattered credibility.

I think there are going to be calls to dismantle NCAA and replace it. Of course, the replacement will be more of the same.

If this gets extended to the other schools that are big time money factories like Yukon, Oregon and UCLA then the NCAA has to be seen as the ultimate problem and I wouldn't be surprised to see legislators get involved. If it sticks with only the Adidas connection then more of same.

Legislators ARE involved!
The have been involved in Kentucky for years.
They were involved in Connecticut where they fabricated a sham football program at Uconn, built a stadium and lobbied the ACC for admission. All while Uconn cheated to get recruits.
Legislators are involved in every major State school.

We all knew why Uconn, Syracuse and Louisville dominated the old Big East. This will hopefully put some of big time cheating programs like Kentucky, North Carolina and a few others on notice and level the recruiting playing field.

Holy crap! Pitino not fired yet. Place on unpaid administrative leave with an employment decision in the future.

Yeah too bad Yukon left Adidas otherwise they'd be front and center on this too. Hopefully the Tipline got some details on the Yukon runners work over the summer in NYC. But agree that there is collusion with legislators. But in the wicked world of politics, the cockroaches scramble when the lights get turned on. Finger pointing starts, condemnation and going into action to look like they are doing something meaningful other than pocket stuffing and CYA. The key for them will be getting behind the finger not at the end of it.

I'm pretty sure this has mostly to due with the $44m buyout and close to $60m he is owed. They want to show "cause" for termination to have a case not to pay him otherwise they owe him slightly more than we owe Slice.

Semantics. He's out.

His contract apparently calls for what I think they just said on TV 10 days notice before action can be taken.
