I was going to say the same. In all likelihood I see Jenkins, Dingle, Luis, Ledlum and Soriano and I think that’s set. That lineup has offensive firepower at every spot on the floor. I have no doubt Zuby will play a ton but he won’t knock Joel off the floor and won’t supplant an alpha-scorer and senior like Dingle who can put up look at extremely quickly. That said, we have an entire second team of guys who could probably start at most of these Big East programs. A second line up with any mix of Wilcher/Cruz, Alleyne, Dunlap, Zuby, Taylor, Conway would hold their own and all will push to get starting games at some point.

If I was Dingle, i'd leave others do their thing yesterday, I wouldn't worry about practice either If i had his talent.again, this is based on what i saw yesterday.
dingle was not aggressive at all.
i will also say, that having RP being candid is so refreshing. everything he's been saying throughout the last few weeks about the players has been absolutely true.
PS: Would any of the guys on last year's team crack the rotation?
Also want to see Soriano and crew tear up Hunter Dickinson. If I was Dingle, i'd leave others do their thing yesterday, I wouldn't worry about practice either If i had his talent.
I believe we'll see the real Dingle at MSG vs. Michigan.
Thanks for the update.First off, it was just a practice, really not a great tool to pass judgment.
Ledlum stood out as an inside outside threat. No.one shot well or finished well around the hoop.
Soriano looked quicker but still as strong maybe stronger and asserted himself in the paint better.
Id say about 500-600 fans, above the 400 i guessed yesterday. Those expecting 4000 would be disappointed but to me, if we beat Michigan and sweep in Charleston fans will light up.
This was an NIL event primarily and i was told they sold about 500 t-shirts. Less than 100 bought an autograph wristband for $30 but i was told that went well.
Saw and chatted Sharif Fordham, who coaches nassau cc for past 8 seasons. George Johnson was also there but i dont think anyone except me and Panther noticed.
The great news is a very toned down Pitino got after his guys for not cutting, not pushing the ball on every possession, not playing defense, etc. He was zoned in on everything, a HUGE improvement over previous practices I've been to.
Rick spoke to the crowd and did say he expects to play 10 or 11 guys.
Based on today I'd say other than Ledlum and Soriano, the other 3 are anyone's good guess. They have about a month to start playimg defense and playing purposeful offense and sticking shots when open.
Saw matt a, vin from storm, panther, and idrsft and a bunch others i dont know from here.
Practice was a c minus generously. Pitino a B because he toned it down for fans, attendance C minus, NIl effort and solid B.
Nice effort to open practice but could have been better promoted.
Kudos to Rick for supporting Showalter.
One of if not my favorite St. John’s player of all time. Thanks for the update.
Sorry to hear that more of a fuss was not made about George Johnson .
He deserves a fuss as he was truly an exceptional player., but maybe too long ago.
blue collar, lunch pail, hard working player George Johnson up there in the Johnny annals for sure. Thanks for the update.

Dickinson is now at Kansas. Also want to see Soriano and crew tear up Hunter Dickinson.
Sounds like a great sweet 16 matchup. Zuby with a shot at his old school.Dickinson is now at Kansas.
He's talking about the Final Four...Dickinson is now at Kansas.
George Johnson is very much overlooked when it comes to greats at SJU. He is the schools alltime rebounder with 1240. A record which most likely will not be broken. Top 8 alltime in points scored and blocked shots. Solid NBA career as well.
Glenn Williams right up there with him as underappreciated. He falls into the pre-Big East, pre-all-games-on-TV era of SJU basketball, which unfortunately is a black hole.
There aren't even color photos of him or really anyone pre-80s on the interwebs.

What a great shooter and I think that he was from the BahamasGlenn Williams right up there with him as underappreciated.
and Johnson of Ohio State, almost unknown and Barkley'sAdd the largely forgotten Elite Eight team of 1979.

George Johnson was perhaps our best power forward in the past 50 years. He falls into the pre-Big East, pre-all-games-on-TV era of SJU basketball, which unfortunately is a black hole.

St. Croix in the Virgin Islands. Great on the defensive end as well. What a great shooter and I think that he was from the Bahamas
