Ok guys who's next???

Has Garrett commented whether he will retune to St.John's as opposed to focusing upon his $1M baseball career?

Why would he not return. Rookie ball ends in August and I am sure he loves playing at st johns. I'm sure he will be back

For what its worth his father told me he loves it at SJU.

Amir has the choice to do whatever he likes. Can't see why he wouldn't return unless the Reds were prepared to move him up to the big leagues after the summer which won't be the case. Amir has options and they are at his whim which is great.

can someone fill this novice in with Morris? I think he's a JC but his skills, size, position
etc. are???

Carlos Morris.... He's not a JUCO. He's a senior in high school (Arlington High) from out of Jacksonville, Fla. He initially committed to South Carolina, but reneged during the early signing period. He's a long, athletic 6'5" SG who'll probably rise up the rankings once the final player rankings are unveiled.

Here is what was written about him a couple of weeks ago, per Rivals.... This was Rivals' top 10 unranked prospects who are going to be in the mix for the final Rivals150.

7. Carlos Morris
School: Jacksonville (Fla.) Arlington Country Day
The Buzz: One of the better unsigned wings in the country, Morris is a potentially explosive offensive player. He can shoot from deep, has strength to finish at the rim and has a short memory that allows him to keep shooting.

I honestly think there is 0 chance of Amir not coming back. There is just no way the kid would work that hard after the ncaa thing to come back to us in december.

If he was just going to bag it he would have just said screw it I'm going to play baseball.

But he worked his butt off to come here. Not only that but he improved rapidly by the end of the year and if he keeps it up there is a very good chance he can make very good money if he choose playing hoops in some capacity after college which could turn out to be more than baseball.

He has the best of both worlds right now. Play baseball in the summer and go to school and play hoops in the winter

To add the Reds are not going to rush him. He's a pitcher and hasn't played in how long. He screams innings limit.

To add to what Moose said, Garrett is extremely, extremely raw on the mound. I've heard him projected as being YEARS away from being even a viable options to move up the ranks, and some well-respected talent evaluators (like Keith Law on ESPN Insider) were shocked the Reds gave him the money they did. Granted that could all change in one summer, but from what I have read, I don't see it.

I think morris is next and I think he is a key recruit. He adds a much needed offensive game which will be even more important if moe leaves. He could come off the bench and provide scoring while D lo gets breathers. And he is long and athletic enough to play in lavins system. I dont know why anyone would question his signing.

No one with any common sense would. He would be a very good get for the program.

Let's just enjoy the ride for now. So far, the staff has (a) brought in a highly recruited PG in Branch (b) signed a strong athletic wing player in Balamou (c) brought back a top tier athletic big man in Sampson. And on top of that he's trying to land another athletic wing and shooter in Morris and/or Bourgault, as well as another big man in Obekpa and/or Sanchez.

If he's able to land a couple more impact players, we are going to have a very strong team next year. And if Harkless decides to give it one more go round, we are looking at a potentially great year in Queens.

If I read his statement correctly, Dave on the Jungle stated two bigs are coming as part of the "stellar class."

  Yes that's what he said

The name that has been bandied about behind the scenes is IMO a lot better than Obekpa.  Fwiw, my gut tells me Obekpa will head to Cincy and Sanchez will be one of our 2 bigs that Dave on JJ mentioned. I think Cooley gets An O-fer with the 3 he coveted.
