Me: Refreshing to not see coaches off to the side play HORSE.

You guys: WHY DOES EVERY THREAD HAVE TO REGRESS INTO A MULLIN DISCUSSION!?!?!

Sounds harsh, but he meant "I can't stand him as a player", not as a personal attack.

IMO "can't stand him" is too harsh...that's personal. They are right about basically everything else though. Hope this makes posters think twice before coming after others who try to be more objective evaluating players. Once again you can simultaneously be a huge SJ fan and wish the players the best while also being realistic.
It needs to be personal and harsh if your livelihood as a scout is on the line. If they can't stand him, they can't stand him.
Agree with your point but the wording could have been better, say, I would not draft him because.......
If that old adage holds true I guess we can look forward to a lot of discussion about Chris Mullin. Hahaha

Or the simple fact he was the coach of SJU last year. And the last 4 years. Find me a sport where the previous coach/manager is stricken from the records so quickly after departure.

I agree. It's natural to compare staff in the first year. Over on JJ the tag team duo of you know who have been comparing recruits to-date with Mullin's first year, the length of time it took to complete the staff, the number of stars next to the first 3 recruits, who left Arkansas under CMA versus how many left Mullin, etc.
For the record, the first two years of Mullin's tenure there were quite a few that kept bringing up Lavin for the crap records of losses and conveniently putting the blame on Lavin for leaving the cupboard empty. Even after three straight losing seasons, the worst record in the modern era, somehow Lavin would share some of the blame.
Mullin will always be on the record books as the coach of the worst 4 year stretch in the Big East. Even the last year turned into a huge disappointment. The only thing that kept things afloat was the transfer game Matt played. Mullin only departed three months ago. To make believe he never coached here is ludicrous.

Something that everyone needs to realize- whether you're pro-Mullin or anti-Mullin- is that nobody's mind is going to be changed regarding his tenure here. 95% of us were here the past 4 years and experienced everything first hand. We saw all the wins, all the losses, and read everything available on this forum and in other places. Constant debate regarding his legacy will have the same impact as debating politics: absolutely zero. If anything, people will double down on their own positions. It is possible that as time goes on people will view Mullin's time as coach here differently, but that definitely won't happen through message board bickering.

This is not aimed at anyone in particular (I didn't read the Mullin posts in this thread), but just for the board in general.

My buddy who teaches at sju spoke with a couple of guys who were on last year's team. He asked how practices were. What they were focusing on. Asked if they was much difference than last years practice. They laughed. They were very confident with coach Anderson.

What are the rules on how much they can practice off season. Not complaining but surprised how much interaction with coaches we are seeing. I thought there were limits to number of hours and number of players at a time.

The looks on their faces say it all: focus, exhaustion, and there's no question who the head honcho is in the huddle.
