Uh, come to think of it.....yeah. Guess you did nail it early.
That would be like the “no tie” guy taking credit for predicting Lavin’s demise
I think Fun took all the credit for Steve Lavin's firing. Five years of editorials.
Why do I feel like Fun is some old hermit in the mountains upstate or something? He continues to give me the spotlight on his blog which is great. Just remember guys, he has a good vocabulary and he is like...really smart. He swears he is, so that's enough for me.

2 points.
As some of you know I am in LI for the weekend as my son’s team is playing in a tournament. I walk into Uniondale High this morning for the first game wearing some SJU gear and the coach running the tournament and signing in the teams looks up at me and says I love Mike Anderson and TJ. I respond what about Van Macon and he says I love him and DeMeo too, they are Queens guys. I love the whole staff. I say to myself wow, CMA has only been here a short period of time.
We play and go back to the Marriot next to the Nassau Coliseum and a doorman at the hotel comes over to me and says Mike Anderson is my guy. Now I am shaking my head. He says I like his style of play and I believe he is going to do good things at St. John’s. He then goes on to tell me how he coached Aidan Aigehon during AAU ball and used to be involved with IS8.
Again it may not be two full months CMA is here and the bball people love him. I find this to be absolutely remarkable. He is clearly doing something very right to leave such a powerful impression in such s short period of time.
Games 2 and 3 are at Luhi. We get there late in the afternoon and I see the NY Jayhawks film coordinator whom I met in Boston 2 months ago. He is also in charge of social media for the tournament.
He comes over to say hello and tells me Andre Curbalho is not present this weekend. I tell him I know , he is at the NBA top 100 players camp. He goes on to say that Andre met with the new staff and really likes them and they all hope that the staff can lock him up in the very near future.
Sorry for the long winded post but wanted to share what has been very positive responses on the two most important fronts IMHO.

Such a positive post. I’m glad CMA and the staff are making such a positive early impression on the local basketball community.

Nba scouts on Shamorie Ponds for the Athletic

On Thursday night, a conga line of young basketball players will step onto a stage in Brooklyn, don a hat, brandish a smile and march into the future. The spectacle will unleash a cacophony of chatter analyzing who will thrive, who will sputter, and how each team fared with its picks.

Before the parade passes by, however, Finch must have his say.

That’s right, America: He’s baaaack. The smartest, savviest hoop maven is here once again to provide his unvarnished insights into the top prospects in this year’s NBA Draft. Most of the planet knows who Finch is, but for the uninitiated I will explain. He is not a person, per se, but an amalgam of six NBA scouts and front-office executives whom I asked to weigh in on 50 former U.S. collegians hoping to have their name called Thursday night. I promised these men anonymity in exchange for their candor, and as you will see below the tradeoff was worth it. After conducting the interviews, I selected the most insightful and relevant quotes and merged them into one paragraph that reads as if it came from a single person called Finch.

Shamorie Ponds, 6-1 guard, St. John’s, 20.

“Can’t stand him. He’s an undersized 2 guard. I saw him disappear in some games when they really needed him. Super streaky. He never really worked on his body. He’s a fearless scorer. When they needed a surge at the end of the game, he was the guy who did it. No positional versatility on defense. He has to defend point guards. I love him as a kid, Brooklyn guy with a lot of personality, but he’s really small. I’m not sure he’s ever lifted a weight. It would be hard to take him.”

IMO "can't stand him" is too harsh...that's personal. They are right about basically everything else though. Hope this makes posters think twice before coming after others who try to be more objective evaluating players. Once again you can simultaneously be a huge SJ fan and wish the players the best while also being realistic.

Maybe he's referring to his attitude. There were times when he pouted and/or acted up on court when calls didn't go his way. Being a borderline picks, I don't think that sits well with NBA teams.

I certainly take issue with the "can't stand him" comment but the rest of the analysis on Sharmorie was pretty accurate. I don't think that he'll be drafted on Thursday night. However, he'll make a very good living playing overseas.

It needs to be personal and harsh if your livelihood as a scout is on the line. If they can't stand him, they can't stand him.

Agree with your point but the wording could have been better, say, I would not draft him because.......

I agree that it is rather personal when you say "I can't stand ya".
