Obekpa Suspended

Obekpa is old enough to know exactly what he was doing lol. When I was 18 or 19 I knew the conquences of my actions, so don't go blaming the culture or society for his actions because that's some bs.
I do blame Lavin though for recruiting this character. He quit on the team last year, thug action @ Butler this year. Now the suspension. I hope he doesn't come back next year.

And if Lavin had backed off recruiting Obekpa -- especially since there were no questions about CO's character at the time that I can recall -- and he ended up going elsewhere, there would have been an absolute uproar on this board about Lavin's inability to recruit a much-needed big-time local recruit.

He's played pretty well for us. He just happens to be a knucklehead.

/did I miss Obekpa's apology to fans, SJU and teammates?

Hmmmm. Good point. No, I did not hear of any such apology.

And to think how many posts expressed concern about him Obekpa leaving early for the NBA...

Hey, I hope he goes to the nba. When he refused to go in last year against pc, that was an elimination game. This year (ok, he's not refusing), but these games are elimination game that we can't use him in again.
So these last 2 years in very important games he has been useless, so why do we need him?
I know people want him back next year, but why? To screw us next March too?

This may be a first, but I'm in 11% aagreement with you. I was pissed after what he did last year, and initially didn't want him back. After a while, I got over it and was kinda glad that he came back (especially with the two non-qualifiers on the front line). Now that his. If we can't count on him when we need him most, then what good is he. I'd rather have a decent player that can be counted on to show up when we need him instead of relying on CO.

Easier said than done. Just who might that "decent player" be? And just how decent is "decent"?

He cost us an NCAA run and if he thinks he is Nba ready he better quit the pot because it's making him confused. His only chance was to come back and improve and may not get that chance again at Sju

I know we are suppose to forgive. But it is also very very hard to do so. Letting down his team ,seniors who worked hard for 4 years, and thousands of fans. For his sake and our peace of mind, let him not put on a ST. John's uniform again. As for me, I don't want to remember what would have been, if he was not so selfish

Obekpa doesn't deserve to ever wear a St John's uniform again

Many times last night I cursed OB out because he may have cost SJU the game but his act was that of a knucklehead as some poster coined a few days ago.
He didn't think of the consequences and he will pay a price for his action but barring him from returning if that is his choice is just too harsh.

It wasn't one act.

Didn't he refuse to go in to the PC game last year in the B.E. Tournament (which was an elimination game.) ? He needs to get the hell out of SJU.
